Interested in how long it has/is taking for new truck orders. As of 02-13-21 there are part shortages and factory shutdowns due to this for many GM models. I do believe the truck plants are in overdrive pumping out trucks, however I have heard many having excessive delays and some cancelations. Please share your knowledge? I ordered a 2021 3500 CC AT4 LB on 01-25-21. Lucky for me it went into event code 2000 on 02-11-21 (accepted by GM).

A lot of electronic “chip” shortages holding up builds across the board. Not just GM but all manufacturers.

Coming from someone who works in the industry

the amount of backorders are off the chart!!!! 30% of my daily stock order are backordered parts. Some body parts for 2018-2021 vehicles are on a 12-14 week lead time.

Question about ordering... Do you have a locked in price at the time of ordering, or do you not know the final price until it’s delivered? Also, are you still available to negotiate with the dealer?

At my dealership ...the price is negotiated at time of delivery. If I don't like the end result I am not obligated to buy. I am sure it may be possible to lock the price once the order is accepted ...its is just the way my dealer does it.

You can negotiate dealer discount and trade value any time you and dealer agree to do that.
The GM program offered will be the one in place at the time of delivery.

Some guys report being asked for a deposit when ordering.

I've ordered many over the years and have never given (or been asked to give)a deposit. I've also always been able to come to an agreeable deal for each one that was ordered. I do like to have the current trade value at time of order (yes that can change between order date and delivery)
As long as the truck ordered is one the dealer might like to have on the lot (or for dealer trade) then there really is not need for a deposit.
If you want something they think they might have trouble selling or using for a dealer trade then...???

Great info, thanks gents. I’m beginning to become more particular in my needs and wants and am thinking my next truck will be ordered.

I ordered 12/28/20 and it went to event code 1100 last week.... What is my dealer doing wrong? It's one of the higher volume dealers in the area...

Are you getting the event code from a salesperson or do you have the order number so you can check the event code on your own.?

If it's been 6 weeks and just got to 1100 now, something is amiss with what you are being told.

Redwngr is correct. Let me add ..1. does your dealer have the allocation for the trim level you ordered? They should have no issue telling you. If they dont, you sit in 1100 till they do. 2. Check yourself through GM Chat for the code status. On Weds 2-10 GM told me i was 1100. On Thurs 2-11 my dealer told me it moved to 2000. GM Chat confirmed the same on 2-12. It seems for me, everything changes on Thursdays. 3. what is your trim level? and cab size?. I have been told but not confirmed they are only building the crew cabs at the moment.

I know another who ordered 1-12. They have a build week of 3-1. If trend holds, we my have the same around 3-15. Please post when you move from 2000.

Ordered my new 2021 Duramax 3500 High Country on 11-3-2020. Order completed on 01-25-2021 ready for shipment in Flint Michigan. My delivery date is scheduled for 2-26-2021 to North Carolina. It's been a long wait. The count is on.
