Drivers are crazy... is there a way to have the cameras on my 2024 Denali ultimate record?

Have you tried one?
I have had mine for over 4 years, still priced about $180, front and back cameras. Very clear and quality recording. Parking mode, that detects motion, records it, but only saves it if needed, like being bummped/a needed sensed movement.. They, record and loop over after full, and it takes a lot to start to record over, so it saves lots of events, or constant recordings.
Front isnt blocking anything, as its behind the mirror, the rear is behind my head, i cant see behind my head, so blocking nothing.

Can be connected with the phone or a laptop to check events, so screen viewing is what ever size one wants. Its wifi, for connecting. .

Not personally. I know people who have them and did some research a while back on getting one. The recommended units were typically around $400.

The front facing camera has a large area on the windshield. So, any camera would have to go next to this blocking my view. maybe it doesn't bother you. I just don't want to add to that. The rear camera is mounted on the rear window and I can't see through that with my rear view mirror (don't have camera mirror on this truck). I get it that it doesn't block all of the view but it is annoying to me. Which goes back to wanting to use the cameras already all over the vehicle that are high quality. I would love to stick an SD card in the slot and just have them do the same thing as the dash cams. Probably will never happen so I will just live without it.

i run a dash cam front and rear. you would literally have to have your head on the roof liner twisted sideways to have the camera block vision of anything. same for the rear view. its just not an issue with proper placement.

no dash cam or car camera i know of is good enough to read a license plate of any vehicle moving towards or away from you.

only police license readers seem good enough atm.

I use an old cellphone as my dashcam (android and use AutoBoy BlackBox). If you go this route, I have found that a quality high-speed SD card is required... my cheapie works great for file storage, but isn't fast enough to stream video to it. As for purpose built dashcams, according to a video I watched there's only really 2 of them as there's only 2 different cameras they use. More expensive cams add features, but not camera quality.

But looking for that video I found an updated comparison video (in response to the LTT video I was remebering): I just started watching it, but hopefully there's some good news in this one if you don't have a spare cellphone laying around.

Just finished watching it. Apparently there is a new camera sensor out, and it does do an extremly better job of picking up license plates. Very much worth the watch if you are looking for a dashcam (some expensive stinkers, some expensive nice once, and one dang good under $200)

Side note, go with one that is stealthy. The events recorded MAY NOT ALWAYS be to your benefit. If the LEO's see you have a dash cam you may be requested/required to produce the events. If you don't then it may look like you are hiding something if it were to go to arbitration or trial. It should be your discretion if you produce the footage.

BTW when are we going to quit using words like footage or roll the window up? We all know what it means but...
