I bought this truck 6 days ago and yesterday came home after a 30mile round trip, went to leave again about 45 minutes later start the truck and get the reduced power message and engine light on. The engine cooling fan was also running full blast, took it to the dealer this morning although the engine light was not on this morning, they said it was the coolant control valve and that it needed to be replaced, but they would have to order it, anybody else have this code?

It should be covered under the warranty. Had mine go out at 42,000 miles. in the shop for a month. They got the new one in and installed it in my truck. That one is defective. Now they are saying they dont know when they will get another one in. The service manager told me that least i have a loaner. I told her that I own a $71,000 yard ornament.

I had this code pop up today on my 2022 Yukon XL 3.0L - 77K miles. I had to continue driving about 20 minutes in order to get home. Trans temp was about 190, which seemed a bit high, but not crazy. Engine Temp stayed normal. No problems, other than the limp mode / reduced acceleration - was able to get on the freeway, which was the only way home. Pulled the code - P1098 - and then found the coolant reservoir low, but not empty. Has anyone experienced this being an issue of low coolant? I documented it, reset the code and filled the coolant. Will keep any eye on it, but wondered if others have seen this.

Well - code popped up again yesterday morning. 2 weeks and about 1000 miles of no trouble. Check engine light came on immediately upon start up on the second trip of the day. Never got too hot. Funny thing is - check engine light went off after 3 or 4 trips and before I could pull the code. Code now shows inactive, but I wonder if the dealer will act on that or if I need to have an active code for them to do anything. Crazy thing is that they say they will need 3 day to diagnose even with an appointment - terrible big city service...

Yep… :( it’s been in the shop for 42 days now.
They think it’ll be ready in May. But they said could be as late as August.
I definitely miss my truck.
And the tinted windows.. lol

They told me when I dropped it off there’s a national back order for the new part# one. They had 5 trucks waiting there for the same thing.
they said if I wanted the old part # CCV I can have the truck fixed right away. But if I wanted the newest one I’d have to wait.
figured I would wait and see how “good” this new one is

Yeah :( I contemplated taking the old # and going on my way but the tech highly recommended the new one said it looks a lot better. I figured why not.
Got a “free” rental right now anyways.

Ya that’s along time. Did they give you rental I hope?
Yeah they did. They were going to give me a ram but I asked for something better on fuel. Last time I got a ram as a rental no matter how I drove even just doing 55mph on the highway I couldn’t crack 15mpg with it. Was a pretty big hit since my truck was getting over double that. So I got a little Jetta. I have a second truck anyways for truck stuff.

Put the miles on their truck and not yours! 😃
Yeah! Haha. That’s the best part. Since I got the rental I’ve put over 7000km on it.

If my truck wasn’t in the shop probably would’ve hit over 200k on it this year but now that’ll be a next year “milestone” haha.

@Hate2looz got my truck back yesterday.
While replacing the coolant control valve they found another exhaust leak again from where the DPF clamps onto the exhaust which they fixed. They also noticed an oil leak and replaced the camshaft housing. While doing the camshaft housing they noticed the turbo was leaking and opted to replace the turbo with a new one as well. Replaced numerous intake and cooling pipes. Flushed my coolant system.

Update on my CCV Saga...

My selling and (normally) servicing dealer confirmed that they didn't have the part and would not order it until I brought it in for diagnostics. They said that they would need the vehicle for 3 days to diagnose, that is even with making an appointment. Made an appointment with another local dealer who said 1-2 days for diagnostics. Second dealer took just over a day to confirm the CCV but part is on backorder with no ETA and that the car was "undriveable". I would be 4th in line for this part at this dealership (with the longest already having waited 30 days) and 7th in line for a loaner car, but that GM would cover $44 per day for a rental.

I went on a hunt for the part. The original dealer said that while they could see that there were some in inventory at other dealers, they couldn't see what other dealers had them - sounded fishy to me. I went hunting for the part and had great luck with some of the smaller dealers helping me out and telling me what other dealers showed them in stock. At the 3rd dealer, I found 2 in stock that were not allocated to customers. They would not sell one to me however, as they were holding them for them to eventually do the repairs themselves. I did notice that both dealers were owned by the same nationwide network, so I hoped that they might be able to work something out. I was wrong!

After again confirming availability of the part at the newest dealer, I went and picked up the vehicle from the original dealer and drove it 30 miles to the new dealer. The drive was almost 100% freeway, so I locked out 10th gear and drove 65 mph. just to be safe. Documented temps and highest trans temp was 172 - No CEL or reduced acceleration warning, so all good there.

Fingers crossed the repair goes well from here. Only downside is that I had to pay the $200 "diagnostic fee" at the original dealership. Going to try to get GM to reimburse that, but don't have a ton of hope on that. Anyone have any luck with that?

You might think of doing lemon law. It’s easy and you do not pay the lemon attorney a penny. Gm pays the attorney fees. GM will either buy your truck back or offer you cash and you keep the vehicle. I did it with a 2017 Silverado and took the 25k and kept the truck after they fixed the injectors. I have a current lemon law claim on my 2023 1500 Denali for radio problems. (Cutting in and out and been in shop 5 times for that ). My case is in Fresno superior court as I speak and GM will be offering to buy it back which I might do or if they give me 25k I’ll keep it and still have them fix everything.

I am in Texas - vehicle is about 26 months - too long for Texas law.

I am sure that it is easy - I just don't think that in my scenario it is right for me to try to take advantage of Lemon laws for some short term financial benefit.

Just because you can sue, doesn't mean that you should sue! So far, other than a BO part, all parties have been very reasonable with me. That being said, I don't have the vehicle back just yet.

Ah ok. I understand and respect your choice. Good luck with getting all taken care of.

Got the code P1098 intermittently On/Off since last Monday.
Dropped off at the dealership on Thursday evening, Bi-directional testing was completed on Friday confirming the valve was bad.
Part came in this morning, had the truck ready by early noon.
Not sure if it’s luck or GM has increased the supply.
Truck has about 90k on it and was covered under powertrain warranty
