I bought this truck 6 days ago and yesterday came home after a 30mile round trip, went to leave again about 45 minutes later start the truck and get the reduced power message and engine light on. The engine cooling fan was also running full blast, took it to the dealer this morning although the engine light was not on this morning, they said it was the coolant control valve and that it needed to be replaced, but they would have to order it, anybody else have this code?

I have a 2021 Yukon Duramax and saw the 1098 code in November, and then had the coolant control valve installed in January. But the code came back again last week! It keeps kicking the fan on and reducing acceleration. After 4 restarts, the code clears but then the next day it will come back. Anyone else getting the 1098 code after the new control valve was installed?

Had the problem last week, 43,700 miles. Did anyone else get forced to pay for some TSB computer refresh? I was told this had to be done prior to any other repair work, $361 and it didn't fix it. Surprisingly, they had a part on the shelf, and fixed it, then tried to charge me $3,330 for the repair. Raised holy hell and ended up paying $178. Paid it to get it over with. Just wait until the pollutuon control stuff starts actign up on these, GM will back pedal until they fall over trying to not pay for the repairs.
That truck is now in someone elses hands, traded it in the next day.

My dealer isn't charging me any of that. My truck has 33,200 miles so still under bumper to bumper warranty. The CCV is covered under the power train warranty so I don't know why they were trying to charge you.
What did you trade it in on? I've been thinking of doing the same but I'm still undecided about what I would get.

update Called GM customer service and complained about wait time on Monday. They started a case number and stated they'd help get the part sooner. Called dealership yesterday and they told me they just got the part in without notification from GM that it was shipping. All in this ordeal is going to take ~ 60 days. If i were to do it all over again I would have called GM customer service earlier, and thats my recommendation. Still pissed off

I got my truck back today after the CCV was replaced. Everything seems to be working fine on it. My truck was at the dealership for exactly 2 weeks. Here's my timeline so that there's hope for others waiting.

May 8, 2025 - Got P1098 and took to the dealer right away

May 9, 2025 - CCV ordered
May 13, 2025 - CCV shipped to Colorado (don't know when it was received)

May 22, 2025 - picked up my truck after it was repaired

2025 Tundra SR5. Hate to say it but it is an overall better truck. Quieter, more torque, tows better than the Silverado. I think the weight difference is why it tows better. Not nearly as many electronic gadgets as the Silverado. I loved the engine and transmission on the 3.0, and the mileage, but had some constant electrical gremlins, then this repair. Have bought new since 1992, first time I had to have anything replaced under warranty, and they made it quite difficult at the dealer. The pollutiuon nannies will be the death of this engine, shame the EPA is allowed to get so involved, then you have the GM bean counters' contstant cheapening.

We have a Cadillac Escalade with LM2 Duramax.

Got the CEL code (P1098) and took it in to dealership on May 1. They got a valve from another dealership the same day, but when they opened the box it was damaged. They ordered another from GM and of course its on backorder. I have called 20+ dealerships within a 6 hour radius and no one has it. Thankfully they gave us a loaner car, but my wife really wants her vehicle back. Is there a best guess time frame on this? Waiting over a month for a part is starting to feel a little extreme. Will calling GM customer service expedite this?

BTW, The loaner is a brand new Cadillac XT6 that smells like someone has smoked 800 packs of cigarettes in it... Car has 3000 miles on it and I have run the ozone machine overnight several times and have not made a dent in that smell, lol.
