Has anyone converted from their 5 speed with the 6 speed conversion kit for Allison 1000 transmission?

I’m looking into buying a kit, does anyone have any recommendations?

Thank you,
AJ

I have the suncoast kit in my 04 going on about 100,000 miles. It works but i would not do it again. Economy wise i saw no significant gain.

Moving to appropriate section because this is not really LML related

Personally I’ve never been a fan of this. I’ve not done it as I saw no reason to spend the large sum it costs to do it when it only lowers the RPMs slightly. It would take forever to recover the cost in fuel savings, and unless you just have money to throw away to say you’ve done it there really isn’t any point to it

I thought about doing it on mine. But I have a trans built by Mike L. I don't want someone else tuning it then locking it.

Years ago, I purchased and installed a torque converter and rebuilt transmission for my '04 LLY from Suncoast. I opted for the 6 speed valve body in the tranny build. The transmission worked fine but the Banks 6 gun tuner interpreted the extra gear as something not programmed for. Consequently, the tuner threw an error code and reverted back to the stock power level every time. This was before EFI Live and other "custom" tunes/tuners. I reported this back to Suncoast and they sent me a 5 speed valve body and took the 6 speed back with a purchase refund for the 6 speed valve body. I was able to swap valve bodies and use the Banks system as designed. Suncoast handled this in a very "honorable" way. No complaints here about the whole transaction.
