On a trip with my 2018 Duramax last August we got a tank full of rusty water fuel at a Velero station near Proctor AR called PJ Travel Center. Less than one hundred miles started my problems dropped fuel filter, full of rust and water. Got truck running sounded great completed trip and kept changing filter with less and less debris finally clean. Truck only pulls camper and never goes in the winter so low 20000 miles pristine truck. Fast forward to this week started up engine light on so scoped 3 injectors need replaced, opened it up and rust in the high pressure lines, rail, injection pump, tank pump, lines, remove and flush tank. $9000. Needles to say the GM filter system is a complete joke DO NOT GO ANOTHER MILE WITHOUT AN UPGRADED DOUBLE FILTER INSTALL.

Did you continue driving after the water in fuel notice came on?

^^^what he asked

insurance and or push it back on the fuel station.
How slow did the pump pump?
guessing you waited forever for a tank of fuel.
Did you turn the filter housing upside down before removing the filter from the housing?

Sucks, hope you get it going soon, I'd push for a fuel system replacement, complete.

Been known for a while now. Literally a car filter setup (Cruze diesel) that uses 3x less fuel volume. The minute it gets stressed it blows out/tears and bye bye fuel system.

🤣 🤣

Actually not many threads on this issue. it has happened, usually after known extreme bad fuel or a gel event. In which case because of the design differences between a screw on filter vs this Mann cartridge filter either would fail once pressure or differential pressure exceeds 80psi. Stand a better of chance blowing an aftermarket filter than the factory filter.
