Should have gotten a down pipe back exhaust that would have helped also. Loose the kitty cat
Afe Mp + Mbrp +ppe
I just thought id take a moment to comment on some mods ive recently done. I think did things in the wrong order but live and learn. First thing I did was get the PPE. I was cheap and got the economy, but I can run level 3 which is max for tranny health. This mod is a well worth while mod. When the turbo gets going my truck really took off. One problem was turbo lag. Secondly I bought an 4" MBRP CB exhaust. Performance gains were minimal, sound was a bit disappointing. Its pretty much the same as stock just a slight bit throatier. Lastly I put on the AFE Bladerunner mouthpiece, this really brought the whole package together.
Hindsight; I should have started with the MP mod. Turbo spools quicker and whistles louder. I should have bought the ppe standard or efi live because I could have grown into them. As far as exhaust I think the 5" would have looked and sounded better, but 4" is fine for now. All in all I am happy with where im at but I kinda feel like performance mods are over for me until I upgrade the tranny, which isnt happening anytime soon bc of $

If You Get Rid Of Your Cat. And Do A True 4" Exhaust You Wont Regret It, It Will Wake The Truck Up And Flow Much Better.

my dad has an 05lly and he did the 4" turbo back and ppe xcelerator, then just this past weekend we did the afe bladerunner and the 3" boost tube and he said now its night and day difference! id say get the 4" front pipe and you will prolly see big gains and great sound improvement!
yea the cat is more of a muffler then the actual muffler is...mbrp makes a 4" delete pipe it goes for a tad over 100 bucks...thats what i have
Congrats on the mods! But I do have to agree with everyone else loose the cat and go from the down pipe back on the exhaust

Ive debated it bc of emission laws/check engine light, but I think I can clear any possible codes with my tuner and I also believe that I may be exempt from standard emissions testing. I was talking with worker from dept. motor veh and he stated that diesel pickups registered over 8500 lbs and less then 10000 are not subject to emission tests, but a cat is still required if it came stock on the truck. So maybe I will take my chances

Good maybe it wont even be an issue theni never got a check engine light on mine....
Every truck is different with the CEL, but most of the time it's not a problem, and it's a soft code so it won't affect how the truck runs at all. You can just clear it when you feel like it. I can get you the MBRP front pipe if you're looking for one, so just let me know if I can help!

the ppe will block the egr codes
my truck never threw any codes for the cat delete... it did however when i did the egr block. that was when i got a tuner!
I just put on a 4" mbrp cat back with a cat delete pipe and afe bladerunner today. The sound in night and day compared to stock. I think the front pipe is what did it. Not to bad to install, just have to fight the cat a bit. I took the mount for the cat off the trans, a bolt and a stud, then proceeded to muscle it out between torion bar and the frame. I would highly recomend a front pipe, money well spent. No cel either.
get that cat out and muffler out as well you dont need back pressure on a diesel like a gasser
