Hey all, getting ready to do some general maintenance and I had a couple of questions. Wondering what fuel filters to use on the Air Dog. Right now I have the filters on it that came with it - it's a relatively new mod. Should I go with 2 micron or 10 micron? And does deleting the factory fuel filter head make a difference in what micron size I put on the lift pump?

More specifically I am asking because I am also thinking about deleting the factory fuel filter head. I've never heard anyone say that this is a bad idea or a good idea - more so that it's just that "can" be done. So I'm asking here to get a better idea if I should or not.

Pretty plain jane build - some upgraded air flow pipes, exhaust, tuned, oem injectors... so no need for bigger fuel.

Down side to deleting the factory filter head is losing your water in fuel sensor, I to use the fleetgard filters.

I run a fass but same concept here. The downside to deleting the factory fuel filter head is the fuel heater. You could add a fuel heater to you air dog I believe. I know you can add 2 to the fass titanium. But I kept mine as I take my rig deep in the mtns in negative temps elk hunting and I need warm ungelled fuel right away instead of waiting for warm fuel to reach the injectors from the fass pump. Plus it's added protection of extra filtration. But if your never driving in freezing temps then you don't need to worry about the factory filter head. Your air dog should have a water separator filter as well. I've never in 550k miles had water in fuel so I'm personally not worried about that

I'm honestly not sure. I've never done any work on newer Duramax's. From what I can tell, it looks like your factory fuel filter housing is different from what mine is. On the cat eye's the filter head is up by the passenger side battery under the hood. Yours looks like it's back by the fuel tank. Sorry bud wish I could help ya.

Keep the OEM filter...... but remove the heater assembly to gain access to discard the check valve ball.

It's restrictive and all it's for is if you stand the truck on it's nose with the fuel filter off, the fuel tank wont drain out.

Guy's go to all the trouble to install a lift pump, and leave this restriction in place.

It boggles my mind.....
