:thumbSo, I get on here frequently and always am envious of these personal threads that everybody makes. Build threads for the most part. Now I don't take that many pictures for a detailed build thread so that's why its not a specific build thread but more of a history and where am I now thread. Mainly for me to keep up with my truck, but will be adding modifications as I go and taking more pictures. ( I promise!)

Here's my LBZ as she sits now.

Here's a directory of modifications, repairs, or general bs to date on the truck and the links to the post :thumb

Yeah I saw them on gmfullsize I believe. I don't have the driver side bracket but I do have the passenger side bracket. I just don't know if its worth it. I mean its cheap and easy but with the leds it may be over powering, and since they don't throw light like a standard bulb, it may be just a spot light.

I may try it. I also am going to delete the rear radio controls, I have never used them and don't see the point for them. Gonna also order some new turn signal lenses. Mine are fogged up and old. Getting stock again, I like the look of all stock.

#373 ·
Ive seen you can delete the controls and add a rear cubby hole in its place. More storage.

#375 ·
#377 ·
You never use it?

#379 ·
That may be true. It looks kinda deep though. I will be going to the junkyard soon and am going to look for some things, this being one of em.

#381 ·
Hmmm, well shit. The rear radio has no use at all to me. Figured the cubby would be deeper too.

#383 ·
Yeah, or flashlights and other ins and outs like that.

#385 ·
Probably true. Unless I fabbed up a small net of some sort to keep things inside. Granted right now I cant even access the radio controls since I have the rear seat down for the dog to have more room in the back.

Went to the junkyard today to grab a few things. Ended up grabbing a couple wheel well liners out of a tahoe, some door reflectors and bulb holders, and the rear cubby hold. Actually the cubby i got was very shallow. But anyways. Picked all this up for 19 bucks. Liners not shown.

These liners are out of the obs tahoe. I read here...
http://www.duramaxforum.com/forum/d...m.com/forum/diy-tech-discussion/95225-wheel-well-liners-classic-body-style.html
that they could be modified to fit and wanted to give it a try.

Well it went in really easy. They slide right in. I cut out some material to give a more smooth look, and they are not perfect by any means. They still have some cutting needed probably and i still need to test drive but here it is.
They are held in on with zip ties on the fender support rods. The existing holes are right next to the rods so i only drilled two holes in the back. Then in the middle i added another zip tie through a bed crossmember for more security. They cover the upper part of the wheel well great.

For how cheap this mod is its one of my favorites. I still need to drive the truck and make sure everything is ok, and give it a couple days of drive tme to see how it looks in different situations, but so far it looks great.

I know right. I was looking at rugged liner wheel well liners for it but i practically stole these.

#390 ·
Right! I was suprised too!

Installed my Airdog 2 165 4G Saturday. Went very smoothly. No real issues, i had to figure out a different place to run the power and ground since my battery terminal bolts are larger then the connectors. Ran it to the alternator and the ground for the holder of the alternator power wire. Also i ran the supply line from the airdog directly to the motor instead of the factory fuel lines. I also was really picky with how i ran the hoses and wires. Took about 4 hours from opening the box, to finish cleaning the garage. Took my time as well. Gonna put pictures up tomorrow. Havent really drove it alot so cant comment on the driveability of it, but i did notice some smoother acceleration getting on the highway. It was raining as well. Hopefully it'll be dry tomorrow after work and i can test it better. Ill put pictures up tomorrow afternoon.

I forgot to post the pictures of the airdog. Nothing to special with it. Im sure yall have all seen one before but anyways here are some pictures of it.

Heres the abundance of fuel line disconnect tools. I didnt use the aluminum tools. The white lisle fuel line tools took off the 2 fuel lines at the tank inn 5 minutes, and the red lisle took off the supply line disconnect at the engine. That one took some time, and an extra hand.

I ran the fuel supply line from the airdog directly to the engine.

I only had 2 spots with extra hose. Right next to the mount and above the fuel tank.

From the side of the truck you cant even tell theres any lift pump and i actually have it mounted above the bottom of the frame as well so it is protected pretty nice.

Today i wired in footwell lights in the front and some extra wire to change my rear door reflectors to have lights like the front doors. I may add some rear footwell lights as well but not sure yet.

Anyways the process of doing this is fairly simple. You only need 2 194 sockets, 2 bulbs, some wire and connectors and the proper tools. You splice into the grey/black wire under the dash. It is in the loom that goes into the inside fuse box. The same loom which we tapped into to fix the dim led issue. Then you just run the wires to both footwells and find a ground. Once completed the bulbs function just like the overhead dome. Will come on with the dimmer switch, or when unlocking the truck. And they dim correctly too. The pictures dont show the brightness at all. They look really nice in person. A great, cheap, easy mod. My passenger side bracket was in place but my drivers side was not. I just zip tied the holder in place. Heres the pictures
Heres the harness.

After i cut and recrimped the connection.

Finished diriver side. Its zip tied.

Passenger side.

Loomed wire under dash for power to lights.

Finished product.

Yeah i figured id secure em under the front seats. This may not happen for a while since my backseat is put down for the dog now. The next project is to turn the rear door reflectors into lights. And i am going to replace the front turn signal lenses and thermostats here soon too. Then built trans. Gonna do that before racing season.

#396 ·
You will love your built trans. I love mine! You thought about what converter you're going to run?

I really need to do my lf axle seal. Shes puking all over the place. I hear it can suck or be easy. I saw a video of just unveiling the axle and then using an air hammer to remove the inner axle shaft and then just a seal puller for the seal and then reverse order but that sounds too easy for all the issues ive read people have had.

Also updated the directory.
