Ok first I just want to say I did do the search as I am on some other forums(huntin) and I read but I guess I still feel a little uneasy so I thought Id ask here. A quick little info is, Im 23, this is my first dmax and the truck is not used for plowing or much towing. Bought it in August. Tows the toys and duck boats in fall and few sleds come winter. Again Sorry for asking if this has been asked before but just not comfortable with some things I read.

So now the situation. question being, should I be worried about the temps or is this normal in my situation below?

I was driving down the freeway on my way back to school(1.2 hrs of freeway) not towing anything running about 77-78mph. The transmission Temp is running around 160-200 with the grill cover off. Gauge goes to 300 starting at 100.

At normal speeds of 55-60 with the cover on it runs around 150-160 not towing. With Cover off it runs about 120-140. This is my dad driving to the farm which is a 45 min drive unloaded.

Outside temp has been around 20-40 degrees.

This is winter so I dont remember what it was runnng around summer as I just bought the truck in August. We did just have some work done as it was leaking somewhere along the lines and got it fixed. Shop put in brand new synthetic fluid.

Thanks for reading, and I will be home on spring break here come monday and just trying to figure out if we need to start looking into it as I want to drive to the UP(4.5 hrs) for a fishing trip.

yup

lol seems a little on the high side. you check the fluid level?
Checked it today and when the shop replaced the fluid it looks like they over filled it pass the line least 1/4" or more. Could this be affecting the flow?

Also..new issue that may be affecting the temp. There is a minor squel deveolping in the front up by the fan..Fan is turning fine. It goes away after she is warm. But I dont have very good mech. skills, but dad does, but he has no internet skills:rof So Im trying to relay the info to him. I will be home for spring break in a week. So just trying to figure out what may be causing it or where to start. Thanks Quick for everything.

too much fluid is sometimes the culprit to anything running hot. I fly on v22 ospreys and assholes are always overfilling our gearboxs and they run way hot when they are over serviced. A transmission is the same way. To much fluid is bad.
