Well as the title says a buddy gave me a Obdlink MX+ OBD2. I understand the CTS or Derringer is a easier preloaded option but let’s be honest they are pricey.

Does anyone run anObdlink MX+ OBD2. Anyone want to share the PIDs and ranges you have found useful?
I’m thinking of starting to run the pids and see what works and what doesn’t. Gonna be a pia because it’s a lengthy list.

So far none of my EGR/DPF, regen pids are working (or I’m too dumb to read them).

I did get Boost to work, so that’s a thing.

Maybe just a mistaken terminology thing, but you don't need a Deringer if all you want is gauges, just an iDash. And if you don't need or want to log anything, you can buy the cheaper gauge only version. $295 I think.

Its been a long time since I've played with PID's for my mx+ and Torque, but they are out there. Try searching around on the torque forum, they have a PID section that may be helpful.
I ended up just getting a CTS3 for the Chevy and left the mx+ to use on my Toyotas, it was just easier to not go down that rabbithole of hours and hours searching online and playing with pid commands and calculations!!!
Don't get me wrong though, I still love my obdlink mx+ and Torque! For what its capable of doing, its incredibly impressive at that price point of just over a hundred bucks for everything!

I just got one and am starting to use Gretio. Seems to do everything I want to do.

I'm playing with an iDash.
I change the items sometimes, but this is how I usually run it.

This is at the end of a regen.

Ok so my initial thoughts.

Gretio does everything I want and seems to have the most useable pids, but with an apple device lacks the ability to change the layout or style you can see the data. Meaning it’s simply a line by line display list with the # or value.
Some other apps you can make the display look like a gauge, or other larger read out.
Apparently it’s far more adjustable display wise with an Android device. My buddy’s going to let me borrow an Android tablet to try soon.
Next you must connect to the driver to the phone, then app to the driver every start up. May not seem like much but it’s a pia.

now the good, you can read every pid imaginable.

Being an Apple an IOS guy, at this point I’d rather have an Banks Idash.

Ill report back after I try the Android. I’ll try to get some screen shots as well.

It's surprising that the Apple version does not have the gauge readouts. Maybe he just has not gotten it developed to the same level as the Android version yet. As inexpensive as the capable Android tablets are, I'm considering getting a dedicated device just for the truck. I think you will be pleased when you use the borrowed tablet.

I have not had to do anything special to connect my Galaxy phone to the OBD device to get it to read the parameters and display them. Maybe that's another issue that is not developed enough on the Apple.

Pretty much this yes. Gretio is a massive project. Every time I try and start adding a new feature new bugs emerge.

Ie adding Hardware Periodics was probably a mistake. It’s a new feature of the OBDLINKs that can speed up a lot of things. Unfortunately it keeps arbitrarily breaking (on the OBDLINK firmware) even after I thought they got rid of all the bugs….. So now I probably need to disable it by default even though it took several weeks to incorporate it.

This is correct.

Derringer is separate/additional cost from the iDash.
Yes, there are 2 iDash models -- one that is gauge only, the other has recording capability.
iDash units can be daisy chained if wanting to view more items at the same time.

Posted the pic just as a response to 'what items are users usually displaying.
Display is configurable, but max it will display at one time is 8.

(It can record many more than that)

My buddy dropped off a galaxy A6 tablet and Gretio is not compatible with it.
I see on there site they recomm Galaxy A7 lite, I can get one for $140.

But 1- not sure I want a 8.7” screen hanging around, then you have to spend more money on a mount.
2- really wanted to try the software on a galaxy device before I shell out anymore cash.

I’m kinda in a holding pattern for now.

Hmm really?

The minsdk for Gretio is API 23 (Android 6.0). If it’s below that it won’t show up.

Galaxy Tab A6 is labeled at API 22. That could be a google mistake though.

The A7 Lite is a really crappy tablet but works fine with Gretio. A used pixel or nexus is also fantastic. With android phones tend to perform much better than tablets.

Not sure if you're a techie or not, but if you are, I'd highly suggest rooting that Samsung and getting rid of ALL the bloatware you'll find on it! Lots of guides on how to root, and even if you're not into rooting it, you should learn how to manually disable all the crap Samsung and their providers stuff onto their phones.
Without all the junk on it, that phone should run pretty quick and uninterrupted with a billion messages, warnings and suggestions!
