Hello everybody! This is my first post, so hopefully I don't mess it up. I just bought my first diesel a couple of weeks ago. 2004 2500 LB7 crew long box with 39,000 miles. A shirt-tail relative has Parkinson's and is no longer able to drive it. The truck is sterile but I'm considering a few things.
On Ebay, they are selling these PPE boost valves for 20-30 bucks that take stock boost from 18-20 up to 26psi. So what are the concerns? is it really that easy? What would be the expected hp gain?

Is it hard on injectors? Because I'd take longevity over an extra few ponies.

What about the Banks boost valve for $195?

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

I run the boost valve and it pics up a little. I`d say it`s worth the money. Don`t know about the banks.

You really need a different tune to see the best benefit out of the valve. That being said, I ran a PPE valve in my LB7 back when I had a stock turbo, and there's one in my wife's truck now.

Single best 30 dollar mod you can have...but a tune is gonna really show how much it works. When mine was stock it went from 18 on my boost gauge without to 27 with it!

So how did you level your front end?

DrededSS- I gotta ask- what the HELL is that picture of???

So would you know what psi of boost is considered max for the LB7? I know gas engines will push head gaskets- but what about the Duramax?
Saaaay.. I'm upgrading to 285s soon- did tweaking the torsion bars give you what you wanted? Did you get longer shocks or extenders?

The valve is really nice. not sure about hitting 28psi with that alone. i was getting 23-24 with it. you will really need an intake, exhaust, gauges and tune to get real benefits. right now i am running 35psi max out of stock lb7 turbo.

Cool- thanks for the info. I was just wanting a few more psi so this might be good (for now). Nice to know it will improve with add-ons.

35 psi out of the stock turbo? Friggin' sweet!

i or someone i know has run about everything. there duel fuelers are shit and the customer service is even worse. go with banks for stock chargers.

I see. At the risk of sounding like a retard, what are duel fuelers? I've worked on tons of gas motors but know squat about working on diesels. I am familiar with the Banks name and would not hesitate to buy their products.

Nothing wrong at all with PPE products, I've git the Boost valve as well from them. For 30 bucks how can you go wrong even if it gives you 10hp?? And as far as PPE Dmitri Mallards truck is running there twins and dual fuelers and I do belive he has the highest horsepower Duramax that ive heard of at least. Won the Diesel Power Challange 2 years ago repin all kinds of PPE products. Just my opinion, Banks great research customer suport etc. Some of there products tend to be overpriced as I see it, example exhaust is 2x the price of anybody else. Pipe is pipe no matter how you look at it. Good luck with the truck:thumb

he's talking about having 2 cp3's or injection pumps. there have been some issues/throdown's lately to say the least.

for the 30 dollar part yeah it works and i'd buy it.

Go with edge evo or EFI for tuning

straight pipe it

you should be happy with the performance and economy you pick up doing that

did anything ever come of the dual fuelers issue with dan?? i read the entire thread on DD a few days back. sounds like an absolute horror story
