For those lucky of us to own a Banks Datamonster/Idash Gauge, What have you found to be the perfect parameters to be watched during general day to day use.

What might be interesting is getting some feedback to setting up specific page screens with useful data to switch between. Color suggestions, alert points.

Personally, this is another one of those fantastic Banks products if you own a Duramax you just gotta have.

I watch def quality percent, dpf soot level distance since regen current regen status on or off, egt 4 temp turbo egt temp oil temp coolant temp one one page. Another page is set for injector rates. Another for electrical another for nox and emissions one for pedal monster. All except balance rates I have regen status and soot level.

I haven't set any data recording or warnings as of yet.

Holding the left arrow down changes pages.

My main purpose of having the idash is to monitor the emmissions system and injector rates. Everything else is just a bonus. After much reading injectors and dpf/scr/def is what goes south most frequent. So those are important to me to keep an eye on.

Temps let me know when the truck should be cool enough to shut down or warmed enough to go. Having sunk nearly the cost of a freekin house into a vehicle I want it to last.

I'm trying to get my Datamonster set up to watch turbo input and output on my 2022 Duramax. I see EGT1 to EGT4 but can't find a correlation between turbo input temp and turbo out. How did you determine which to monitor?

Thanks

I have all 5 pages setup on mine:
Page1: Main page I watch

Page2:

Page 3:

Page 4: My active regen screen, DPF SL counts down to give you an idea of remaining time of regen cycle

Page5: This has been updated now since I got the pedal monster after taking the picture, I use the combo for the PM and Derringer

I also have a slightly different setup now that I have 2 iDashes. On the 1st iDash I watch my page 1 screen, and the second I have the Page 5 PM/Derringer combo. I did change my data a bit to avoid some redundancy.

Oh, for colors, the light cyan is the closest match to the factory dash (Chevy wise). I also run the red lettering/black background. I feel this is the least obtrusive at night. I also adjusted the night dimmer value nearly all the way down so that the idash will get very dim at night. Still easy to see, and not blind you.

If you do expand and get a second iDash (and have OCD like me), the colors should match. I bought my second iDash a year or so after the first, so the one that came in didn't match. Called up banks, and they swapped it out free of charge.

Great posts all, Banks stuff is so well thought out and really provides info GM should have incorporated into the truck to begin with (especially when you consider what it costs)

Keep um coming, your all giving me ideas and showing me better setups then im using!

Loving this thread. I bought a Data Monster and a second Super Gauge to go in the new truck, and a custom mount from http://www.block8head.com/ . Hopefully get it set up this weekend, along with the new fuel tank and the 5th wheel and the new steps and the new mud guards and ...........

Also just got an email from Banks that their diff covers are now avail for the 2020+ GM HD trucks.

If you buy the diff cover make sure you buy the stealth ops one or unfinished. Don't get the one with polished fins. PM me for details.

I also have one data monster and one regular iDash. I'll post up my new page formats.

I also have them installed on the blockhead double pod. CLEAN install. 😎

Is this the one not to buy?

If you live anywhere salt is used, get the all black stealth ops one.

It's a purely looks thing. If you live in a wintry salt use area, you're better off with the stealth ops all black one. I had some issues with the powder coat coming off of my first one. It was replaced free of charge and they recommended I get the stealth ops one.

I really, really appreciate letting me know about this, as I pulled the trigger on purchasing the one above 10 minutes before reading your message. You saved me lots of grief, even if Banks would have replaced it at no charge (which BTW is fantastic).

Yea, I didn't want to slam them too much publicly because it's a great product. They did do it all for free under warranty, although it did cost me another 4 quarts of gear lube.

Wow, thanks Jay.
Well gentlemen, I think you can see their amazing customer service at work.

You'll be very happy with the covers. I like being able to peek under there and actually see the level of the fluid.

I am so impressed with Banks Products. Their systems, tech support and customer service is light years ahead of anyone else in the aftermarket market . You can be confident that everything they sell has been engineered to NASA standards and will work better then anything GM has to offer and will last the test of time. Short of a few minor parts my 19 LP5 has all of their offerings.
When I can afford to do it I plan on purchasing the differential cover to finish up, I am sure this will be another worthwhile purchase! Thank you Gale Banks and your company. 5 Stars!
