Use an LML manifold. Basically one third the price of a BD.
Already got the BD bought it off CL new in the box guy even gave me the gasket for 100 bucks off what it sells for

I would think the heat would make them harder to get out?

Let me know if having troubles but it really is one of those installs that looks harder than it is :thumb

Also I have Member pricing available for active Duramax Forum members, maybe not 1/3 but still great deals :poke[1]:

Nah^^^ I did mine but its been a while , Back when the truck was 1500 miles new.It was new and I even used the factory gasket over. No leaks, I went by the directions and went pretty well. I think all i took off was the inner fender and the wheel. I think if I remember right I took off the oil filter to get the old one in and out.

It helps if you have a 12" breaker bar. The bolts are fairly tight, but not too bad. (up pipe bolts on the back of the turbo are killer! But you won't have to touch those) where it connects to the up pipe is the worst because the oil line/transmission line (not sure which) gets in the way. I couldn't get my impact gun on it and my air ratchet isn't strong enough to even budge it. If you have a powerful air ratchet it would pretty much make it fun! Otherwise it's not bad.

I ended up having mine done it cost about $300 labor.
Do not expect much on gains 0 as far as I'm concerned.
I only did mine so I could install a probe and read egts on my Edge Insight.
See my sig, I read egts from both manifolds.
