Goodyear Ultra terrains so far are the best snow tire I have ever had. Last year I was driving trough a blizzard (probably should not have been on the road) and I plowed through snow and ice while others were spinning out all around me.

Thank you for posting your experience with the Goodyear Ultraterrain tires. Glad you were safe driving in those conditions.

I would advise running actual winters, but if you're stuck on a year round tire, Goodyear Duratrac. Ultimate jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none tire. Stud 'em for maximum ice performance. Mine wore fine.

General Grabber ATX has provisions for studs.

My Ultraterrains are at 18k and have approximately 9/32 tread depth remaining.

I drive snowpacked roads and ice, and temps are now well below zero overnight and morning hours. The tires are not as great at half life as when new.
No surprise.

I am making the switch next week to the Blizzak LT for winter fun.
