Does his truck have an automatic or manual? The dodge trannys are POS. I have an 02 with 110k on it and is stock other than a 4" exhaust and the tranny is going out so currently it is getting a HTS tranny, lightning pump and 100 hp injectors. I also had a 00' and the tranny went at 147k. I wouldnt put any more power then stock to that tranny unless he has some cash saved up for a good tranny build. I know and have put 2 in and my cousin put one in his 99' around 150k miles also. The dodge trannys just dont hold power in the 2 gen. trucks.

Also when you tap the wire on the pump you will start going through injection pumps every 15 to 30 thousand miles and at 1400-1800 a crack that gets costly.

That may very well be true! I knew a guy that the day he put his comp box on his vp44 went out but this could have been due to a bad lift pump too. My cousin also has gone through 2 pumps on his truck. I have heard it before so it is just something to think about.
