Got my 2006 last month (Oct'14) with 190k on the clock.
Love driving this truck!

Been doing a lot of research on here and been asking lots of questions.
Appreciate everyone's response as it's helped with learning and direction.
Will continue to post as I make upgrades a small piece at a time.

Where to start? With all the "wants" it's tough to pick just one thing to start doing to Betty.

Digging around on craigslist and ran across a grille guard for sale. The seller just bought a 2006 3/4 ton two days prior and didn't like the look of the bar. Picked it up for 200 bucks.

Got it mounted up. Can tell there's a mild increase of pressure on the steering wheel from the added weight but nothing significant to worry about.
And... it just looks good

Happy with the way it installed. Although, it was a bitch as I did it myself and the darn thing is heavy as eff! Used six 4x6 blocks to prop it up until I could slide it in place

What are your plans for the truck?
Air intake, EGR full delete and exhaust deletes for now until I can afford 5" straight pipes.

The rest is cosmetic.

I was telling a buddy of mine that I was looking at AirRaid intake kits. Coincidentally he says "I have one that's been sitting in the garage for a couple years but can't use it cause it won't fit my '05, you can have it."

Sweet!

I got all the dust and cobwebs off that had settled on it.
Cleaned up pretty good.

Had to find a couple of screws to mount the air flow sensor as the original air filter assembly used self tapping screws. Popped right in the engine compartment and fit like a glove.

I live in Nashville TN and have been making trips up to Missouri lately. Been monitoring the mpg pretty closely and checking with every fill up. Typically I put the cruise on 70 and let it do it's thing.
I was getting 18.25 mpg before I installed the AirRaid. I picked up somewhere between .25 to .5 mpg after installing it. Same roads, same driving habits, same fill up techniques. Hoping that after exhaust deletes I pick up a little more. Every little bit helps!

Last week my lift keys and shock extensions came in. Would rather put 3 to 5 inches of lift on the truck but Fall is here and the money doesn't grow on the trees as quickly this time of year

Can't wait to get the lift keys installed and get the truck aligned.
Then it's time to install these things that just got delivered last week also...

I am stoked! May as well be Christmas

You don't need a dpf delete pipe :thumb
Unless someone felt like adding emissions lol
And as far as a muffler delete pipe, don't bother with ordering a pipe, just go to a local small welding/exhaust shop with a lil cash and they'll prolly set you up in 10 minutes for stupid cheap.
Now to spending money,
Gauges - insight cts rocks
Oil analysis - I use black stone
Compression test - tells more history
EFI LIVE!!!

Edit: you do have a cat don't ya..... whoops lol

No sweat. I should have called it what it is... DOC (Diesel Oxidation Catalyst).
Either way, it's coming off also :D

I tried a couple different muffler shops today. No one seems to carry 3.5 inch pipe. I was like "screw it, notch the 4", bend it in and weld it". Bunch of lazy bastards these days.

I'll get it done one way or another. Probably weld it up myself. Just trying to do it inexpensively for now as I want to go with larger later.

Picked up one of these two days ago.

Won't be mounting the adjustable/removable brackets on the top.
I like the idea of having a headache rack. But having second thoughts about this one. Will find out once I mount it along with a black tool box. Can always sell if it doesn't have the right appeal :thinnkk

Picked up a black low profile truckbox today. Should look good with the aluminum DeeZee headache rack.

Hopefully I'll have time this weekend to get some work done on Betty. The stack of parts is starting to build.
Lift keys
Shock extensions
Shocks
Rims
Headache rack
Toolbox
Weather Tech parts are suppose to be here tomorrow:
Mud flaps
Digital fit floor liners
Window deflectors
Sunroof deflector

I so want to pull the trigger on 5 inch straight pipe (MagnaFlow) with downpipe. But need to spend the $ on alignment and mounting/balancing the new Rockstars.

Speaking of downpipe... 3 inch is pretty much standard? I'm looking at heat wrapped MagnaFlow downpipe. It's the same cost as MBRP.
4 inch downpipe won't fit? Or no one makes one for '06 LBZ?

But yea, same concept applies for going to a small shop.
How's ally feeling?
Tunes will help mpg the most
You have me wondering. Why asking about trans? Engine and components are all stock. Trans shifts out fine (no sliding into gear, hesitation, slippage etc.). Coming up on fluid(s) change... engine, trans, transfer case, diffs. I hear there is also an internal transmission filter along with the spin-on. If so, will be changing it also.

With the 190k+ should I start thinking about a trans build in my future (even if I'm not going 'crazy Ivan' on engine?
