I'm a noob to diesels, got my 2008 LMM a few months ago. I installed a scangauge and found a code to monitor boost. I find that most times at idle the boost is 0 or close to zero. Every once in a while I find that boost is showing -2.0 or so idle and continues to be a few points lower while driving. Is it normal to change like this? Could it be in regen mode when this is happening?

TIA for any insight.

no boost and a running engine have the potential to make vacuum. I know diesels arent throttled at all and make next to no vacuum at idle, but they can. Could also be, like was mentioned earlier, changes in atmospheric pressure causing the strange readings but -2psi is a lot of barometric pressure change

It creates no boost at idle and the readings are fluctuating bc they are designed to measure boost not vaccume.

Thanks for the info everyone. Guessing it's just a quark with the Scanguage setup.
