I am really smoking out the breather tube, not really any oil ( just a little residue) leaking but alot of smoke. Like I am embarrassed at a stop light smoke..... I have 130K Edge chip, 4" exhaust, AFE intake. I have taken the truck to two mechanics. The injectors are done, both tested them as well... No diesel in oil either. Not burning much oil and it is not overfilled. Could this be something wrong in breather?? OR PCV valve. Both dealer and diesel mechanic tell me that "a little" blow buy at 130K is normal. The only thing I have not had done is a compression check but the truck runs fine!! HELP??:help

I don't have any condensation...... Nor have I noticed a drop in my coolant level. I did change the PCV valve yesterday just because I had ordered one a while ago. This did not solve the problem but I wasn't expecting it to. I have ordered the pressure diaphrams that were suggested. I am going to install those and see what happens. If I still have the blow by I am going to have a compression test done, its just weird because I feel it has too much power to have a piston and or ring problem????? Would I notice substantial power loss with a bad ring? I am at a loss if these diaphrams don't work, I love this truck but I hate this smoke, not to mention the mess it leaves as the wind pushes it toward the rear of the truck..

I will go check. I can say that it doesn't smoke at all until the engine is up to temp. I can put my hand there and I feel a little bit of air pressure but it doesn't turn to smoke until the engine is up to temp. I don' know if that info is useful or not..

Breather Tube Smoke = New Truck for Me?

Well...... I going to try these pressure diaphrams. For the low price I guess its worth a shot.

If that doesn't cure it, it sounds like I need a rebuild. I thought these were good for 300K?? Should I even bother with the rebuild? Is it worth it just to srcap it and start with a new truck? Whats a guy to do

Yea for the cost of a reman engine and labor to put it in or paying a mechanic you can probably trade it in...
My buddy darkdmax traded his 03 dodge cummins that had a horrible knock in for his dmax and they gave him full price because they never even started the truck
and most likely they will never check your blowby
and you can plumb your blowby tube into your intake tube and it will put a vaccum on the crank case and not allowing blowby to pass
Can someone go to a dealership and request a log of the work done on my truck??? Do dealerships keep that kind of info

Update & Cure for the Breather Tube

Well guys I thought I would post an update on what I found out. IT ENDED UP BEING THE INJECTORS!! My brother and I replaced all 8 and we clearly see what was wrong. When the warranty injectors were installed over a year ago, when the tech put them in it looks as if he used the keeper for the injectors to seat them down causing them to scuff the oring gasket on two of them. Truley the injectors really didn't fail but the o ring gaskets did. So if you do them yourself, take care in installation. My truck is out of warranty and the dealership that did the warranty work is closed so I guess thats just my luck, Oh well truck runs great!!
