Well pump rub just blew my transfer case up, now my injectors are going out for the second time. Diesel smell and white smoke....wondering if maybe you can use stanadyne, fuel filter changes, and an air dog to bring the injectors back up to spec...or close to it.

Now before you say Im nuts a guy I used to work with has an 02 gmc and when I used to work under him the truck would lope, smoke, smell etc. I knew his injectors were toast, but he refused to spend the money to fix them. That was 2 years ago. When I saw him last week the truck wasnt smoking and seemed to be running fine. He swears he hasnt replaced the injectors and he just started treating the fuel and it fixed the problem. The truck has 315k on it, and is on the stock sticks. So is he the luckiest b*stard in the world, or has anyone else ever tried to "bring their injectors back"?

Run some atf or 2-stroke oil in your fuel... I use atf personally but you will read all kinds of bad on it, yet I'm still on my original LB7 injection after 400k+ km's.

Automatic transmission fluid. A whole lot of controversy on using this as a fuel additive, I've always been told to stay away, so thus I've never tried it and have no personal experience with it. Diesel kleen is good yes, I use it as my backup when I run out of stanadyne or forget to throw some new bottles in the truck lol. I also run 2 stroke in my tanks.

Definitely NOT sent from my iPhone while jumping on a trampoline wearing a banana hammock..

ATF was used by truckers in the old diesel engines forever, and it worked wonders. Some say that the ATF molecules are to big to be pushed threw our new injection systems, and can possibly cause havoc with the new diesels and emissions systems.

There was one guy on here or DD that was running straight ATF or a mix with a high ratio of ATF, and he had no trouble....

Mine was smoking lightly for about 15,000 miles but not making oil so I figured I'd save some $ for injectors. Tried DieselKleen to no avail then read about 2 stroke oil or ATF. Bought two quarts of 2 stroke oil and put one quart in and filled it up. It stopped smoking before I was down to half tank. I just had a buddy check and all the injectors are within spec, although two were getting close. I wish I would have checked before to see if they got better or what happened. He wants me to keep putting additive in and check in a few weeks to see if they get any better, but some people say they won't. We'll see.

When I first got my truck I noticed a tad of white smoke. I installed a 2 micron secondary filter and use Diesel Kleen and have not had any further issues. The filter was fairly simple to put on too, made by Lubrication Specialist
