I had a family friend give me a LMM Motor that he was going to build for a project until he had some trouble and needed to get rid of some thing. It is an LMM Block he didnt give me much detail where it came from out of what year of a truck or anything like that. I have a project blazer that in my mind would be perfect to put it in. My biggest question so far is what do i need to find electrical wise to be able to get this motor running when it comes that time. It doesn't have any electrical items included with it at all so i wanted to see if anyone knows what the bare minimum is that i would need. Any other tips and tricks from your own builds are also appreciated!

OH my. you have bare long block nothing else? OOF. There are wires for days on a dmax. LMM will be a bit tougher if you want the LMM operating system due to emissions. I woudlnt know where to start. ECM, FICM, Bale harnesses, Etc. Plus the allison with the TCM etc etc etc. I'd find a donor truck if you are serious about the project, unless you have some DEEP pockets.
I saw some swap builds on here so do some research. Some great info here

For the record, i think it'd be awesome. love seeing diesel swaps and turning up the wick.

I would go buy a wrecked truck to start robbing parts from. You will spend more buying individual components than just buying a complete truck that was wrecked or had an engine failure.

Im a central utah guy so im lucky enough where you dont have inspections or have to pass anything emission wise but thanks for the in-site i appreciate it!

When you say long block does it have turbo and anything such? Essentially a complete engine without wiring? You probably need a standalone harness and ECM. Also are you thinking of using the Allison? If so you can get standalone harnesses that do both i believe. PPE makes standalone parts i believe as would Painless Wiring (i think that’s the right name). Hicksville Auto Recyclers would also be a great place to get any additional parts you may need including a transmission.

You mention a FICM. LMMs do not have a FICM. Only the LB7 and LLY hade a FICM. Go see if you can find it on your truck

HA thanks Nate was thinking of my 04 (lb7). So there's one part he's ahead of the curve! Also learned something as i wasn't aware they were making standalone harnesses. Sounds like a swap is way more feasible than i would have thought.
