On a LBZ what is the difference in Cal. emission and the standard Federal emission requirements and does it effect mileage?

I'm new to this forum so I hope I'm posting in the right area. I'm thinking of buying a new body style 2007 Duramax from Texas, but I read that you now have to smog these in CA. Are all these truck 50 state emission compliant or do we get special ones in CA? Can I buy this truck in TX and then register it in CA or am I asking for trouble with the CA DMV?
Thanks,

I believe you can register it here as long as it has more than 5,000 miles on it. You will have to pay the first time registration fee, but you shouldn't have any problem. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. I once purchased a motorcycle in Arizona and had to pay first time registration along with taking it to DMV so they could verify serial numbers.
