Have a 05 lly would it be better to gut the cat or cut it out and weld a pipe back in it's place? If I did cut it out anyone know how much the cats are selling for?

Gutting the cat will cause masive amounts of turbulance in the now empty cat and possibly even more back pressure than you had before. Remove it completey.

Diesel cats no not contain platnium like gas engine cats, and thus are not worth much. You would be better off selling it to a forum member that is looking for one. Probably get $75-$100 that way.

Depends alot on what your state's inspection requirements are. If they check for it, then you'll either need to swap in the cat every year or you can just gut it and be done with it for life. If they don't check, they I'd just get rid of it and sell it to recoup a few extra bucks.
