Thinking about changing over to syn. Would it be OK to change the filter and pull the plug on the pan and then fill back up with amsoil syn? Drive about 5000 and do this again until finally there is nothing but syn in the trans. Will it be OK to mix the fluids with the stock fluid and the syn? Does anyone know how much will come out of the pan draining it this way so I will know how much to ad back? Any advice will be great......

Amsoil is completely compatible with the original fluid. You are safe mixing with the factory lube, you just don't gain all the advantages of the Amsoil until more of the old fluid is out.

With your method, expect to change about 7.5 quarts of the 13 total. You can access the cooler lines and blow compressed air through them to remove about 1 quart more.

Another idea, is to drop the pan and break loose the bolts for the VB, and let the fluid drain down from inside the transmission case. I will have to look up the torque on those bolts for you for re installation.
