Considering PUrchase of DMAX w/200K! HELP!!!

I am considering the purchase of my first DMAX. It is a 2003 2wd with 189K highway miles. It is in good shape and I am getting a good deal I think ($8500). The injectors have never been touched and it runs GREAT!! The maitenance has been done pretty well! What would injectors cost me if I did the job myself? Should I change them out before they fail to protect the engine? SHOULD I PASS ON THIS TRUCK?????? I can't afford $15000 for a lower mileage truck. Any help appreciated!!!! Ryan

Welcome to the site. The 2003s are covered by a 7yr/200,000 mile warranty for the injectors only for high return rates and fuel in oil. Injectors will cost about $350-400 a piece and a whole lot of your time. (you have to pull the valve covers) I believe if the dealer does it and has to change them you are looking at $4-5000. I would have the dealership check the balance rates on the injectors and give you a print-out. In park they should be +/- 3 and in drive they should be +/- 6. (from 0) It does sound like a good deal, but I would be leary of this one unless it has full documentation of all maintenance.

dealer sold me new injectors for 250 each and charged me 8.5 hours labor to replace my injectors all done at 157k miles

I would have called GM customer support...there have been people with 04 getting them covered under the special policy for the 01-03s.
I just bought a 02 dmax with 158k and my injectors haven't been changed either. I'm a little scared myself. but it runs great.
