Coolant Smell after EGR Valve Replacement on Duramax 3.0 (LZ0)

I believe one of the EGR's (there are 2, one high pressure and one low pressure) has a cooler involved, I have to assume it is coolant that runs through it, I also know it is at the bottom of the turbo area, but...

I have had 2 of these 3 liter diesels, a 21 LM2 and a 24 LZ0, both have had a slight smell of coolant from time to time on the passenger side. but the 21 only lost maybe a cup of coolant in 2.5 years which could easily be attributed to evaporation as well as possibly a very slight seepage somewhere, the LZ0 is yet to drop in the tanks at all since I marked it on day 1 so I could keep an eye on this. I never did find any coolant colored markings anywhere in the LM2 where it might be seeping slowly and drying up, but it is hard to see into all the possible areas, and it never ever dripped a drop anywhere that I could ever find. There have been people that had coolant seeping just barely at all at the clamp on various things in the engine bay, everything from electric coolant pumps to the EGR and other spots too that I cant remember exactly where they were, but almost all of them were so minor that they would just give a whiff of smell from time to time but never dripped. In my case, I haven't smelled it in a while so I will wait to see if anything ever drips or becomes evident that I am losing coolant before I go having the dealer tear into it to look, but I think your issue could be due to the work that was done. IMHO/YMMV

Here is a pic of the EGR I am referring to.
