cp3 is the injection pump. supplys fuel to the injectors. its a gear driven pump in the valley

Just to add to "Diesel"s comment... It creates vaccume to suck fuel from the tank and through the filter to the pump. Then it pressurises that fuel inside the pump and sends it to the injectors. It has a FPR (fuel pressure regulator) bolted to it to regulate the fuel demands. Not to be confused with the FPRV (fuel pressure relief valve) that relieves excess fuel pressure in the common rail.
