Hello, I have a 05 duramax C4500 bucket truck I've changed #1, 7,and 6 injectors, New fuel head and filter, added a inline electric fuel pump, prime buld stays hard when the pump is on. But the truck will not start without me putting a gas rag over the intake. Once started I can work all day with no problems. Truck runs great but if i turn it off it just will not start back up on its on. I was going to buy a scan tool to see return and line rates but just not sure which one to get. $300 or $1200..? I have two 05's, and one 08 and have become somewhat of a decent wrencher keeping them going. The shops just take too long to work on anything and I cant have them down for a week or two at a time. I just bought a fuel race valve and will put it in tomorrow and see if that helps. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thought id just give a follow-up. Did head gaskets and ARP head studs, replaced the injectors that were left, new glow plugs, new rubber fuel lines, and a new CP3, there was 1bolt that fell out and one that was loose on the back of the cp3. Runs like a champ now.
