alright fellas figured i'd let everybody know how my trip from maryland to california went. 2781.4 miles, i cleared it in 2 1/2 days by myself, truck gave me no problems, average speed was 70 mph. the way i did this was i filled the truck up each time. but it never got below 1/4 tank, reason being that there were spots were there were no fuel stations for 50-60 miles and i didn't wanna be stranded, so i fueled up early. the columns are very simple here first column is miles traveled second column is the gallons it used, third is average, fourth is any additives or noted conditions.

miles________gallons______additives/conditions_______average
1.413.1 20.822 n/a 19.8
2.402.2 18.545 diesel kleen 21.6
3.335.2 19.519 a/c on, diesel kleen,bad wind 17.1
4.377.7 17.833 diesel supplement 21.7
5.360.3 20.832 diesel supplement,up hill,high elevation 17.2
6.376.3 18.184 ds, down hill, flat road 20.69
7.376.2 17.779 diesel supplement 21.1
8.140.4 6 diesel supp, down hill 23.1

Wow, that is good MPG. Of course the constant speed helps the mileage a lot.

Let see-- two injectors bad= a V6. Hey-- a V6 Duramax.

That is about real world average for a Dmax. I got 24.5 once hand calc. I also dropped 4000ft in 80 miles. My truck averages about 18.5-20mpg depending on road conditions and speed. If I stay around 70 it will get 20 pretty easy.
Those are good numbers with a couple bad injectors.

injectors aren't bad bad yet they're gonna be done here before too long, white puff at start up so not too bad. anyhow she ran smooth the whole way...i was very pleased with the trip no fuel in oil. i think the fuel additive helped, she started like a charm when i rested in wyoming for 9 hours and it was 30 some degrees outside, i know thats not too terribly cold/bad for them but i think with worsening injectors it was good
