I've never ran a 4x4 down a drag strip, and I was curious about something. I hear about guys that launch in 4wheel at the light, I know it gives you traction off the line but slows speed at the top end. My question is why not turn off the 4x4 off once your out of the hole? Would it not get you higher mph and lower ET's? Or would it even make a difference?

No question is a dumb question. I have heard it doesn't make a difference.

It wont disengage at full throttle. Think about it, if you take 2 gears and have them fully seated together they are strong. Move them out so only 1/8th of each others surface area is touching. Now add 800-1500 ft.lbs to that and teeth start breaking.

I have heard that it wouldn't disengage, but have never tried for myself.
