Will a 2006 work from a Chevy? Even if the gauge set up in it is differently arranged?

It will work; the gear indicator display will go blank in any other gear than park, reverse, neutral or drive.

So if you dont care about the gear indicator going blank when you shift to "3" "2" or "1"....then yeah you can use an 06 cluster in your 05.

You can send yours to be repaired. The truck will operate normally without the cluster while you wait for the repair. This way you don't have the incorrect odometer reading either.

Oh does the odometer get stored in the cluster or the computer? You mean mine would have a different odometer reading?

Cluster stores it, at least on the 01 it did.

On 2001-2014 trucks, mileage is stored in the cluster only. If you swap clusters on 2001-2014 trucks, the mileage will go with the cluster.

That doesn't make sense! If its stored in the old cluster and you go with a new cluster, then it can't be stored in the cluster right?

The mileage is recorded in the cluster-- so if you have 120,000 miles, then you replace the cluster with one that has 50,000, it will show 50,000. You are supposed to have the old mileage changed to the new cluster-- by law-!

ok what year are you talking about???? Figure out what cluster you actually have there before you ask if it will swap!!

2001-2002 clusters are different and not interchangeable from 2003-2007 clusters.

2003-2005 and 2006-2007 can be swapped, but the gear indicator display wont work 100% properly.

All 2003-2007 clusters have the exact same gauge layout. The only difference is the 2006-2007 clusters have a slightly different gear indicator display, and the redline on the tach is a little different.

2001-2002 clusters have the fuel level and oil pressure gauges in different locations.,
