I'm looking for a tuner that won't destroy my stock trans. Any one have an opinion on the diablo predator? it claims 40rwhp to 100 rwhp. any insight would be great

I had a diablo predator on my 01 dmax, I liked it. I currently have a quadzilla s2 on my 08. I am thinking of selling both my Quad s2 and my Diablo.

I ran a predator for a little while and it was good. I liked the power it had and it did not seem like it was a dirty tune. Pretty smooth

Sent you one back!!!
Any of the preloaded tunes in the Predator will work well with the stock trannyas long as you drive responsibly, for best results try the 65 or 85 HP tune to get some nice mileage out of that thing while enjoying some extra power!
Mike, I have a diablo pred. I bought for an lb7. It is locked and needs to be sent in to get unlocked. Will it work on an lly after it is unlocked?
I have a predator that is unlocked and ready for a new owner... just need to find someone who needs one. Price is pretty decent too!

what year LLy do you want to use it on?
A 2005 Lly.
I have a Predator U7185 I believe, for my GMC 2005 LLY. It works nice. I have used all the tunes except the 100HP. Just don't want to destroy my tranny. The tuner allows you to adjust for tire size. That's why I bought it fore most. The tunes second. Scanning ability third. The biggest complaint for me is that it screws up your mileage computer on the DIC. Mine is off by approx. 1/3. Says I'm getting 21MPG, when I check it with a calculator it might be only 14 or 15 MPG! If they could fix that I would give it 5 out of 5.
i am running a predator right now and have been since i got the vehicle......takes forever to load a new tune but other than that its a good tuner.
yea i have the diablo preditor also i like it alot just dont run it on the highest setting that will rip your stuff up, i run it on the second to the highest and my trucks fast as hell
i have one too. always ran it on 85 tune and it ran great. added lots of mods but it finally caught up to me. but its my fault lol i am gonna get a tranny rebuild soon cuz i limped my tranny a few times already. just be careful and dont be flooring it like i always did
Yeah im pleased with mine also, doesnt take long to flash the ecm, smokes a litltle but not too much and it seems like a good smooth power delivery.
My father just bought a diablosport predator for his 05 LLY. We were in the local diesel shop and they happened to have one on clearance that someone ordered and didn't want, or didn't pick up. Just wondering if you guys can give me some more info on it and some feedback. Do you just plug it into the OBD port, load in the tunes, then unplug it? I'm pretty sure it had a book in the box with it, but I want to have an idea of what I'm doing, I'm gonna help him put it in this weekend. Also it said on the box about updating new tunes online? What tunes does it come pre-loaded with and what kind of MPG numbers are you getting with the various tunes? Sorry about all the questions, he's had the truck for a couple years and I finally have him convinced to start doing some mods!!! :rockin Should be ordering the LBZ mouthpiece for it tonight or tomorrow.
well they r all pretty much the same. i have an LB7. u pretty much have to make sure ur cigarette lighter is working otherwise the programmer wont power up. 2ndly if u have an aftermartket stereo ur gonna have to go under the hood and go to the fuse box. take off the radio amp fuse which is a 30 amp fuse. then what u do is go in ur truck close all the doors, make sure the stereo is off as well as AC or anything. make sure nothing is plugged into the cigarette lighter or the other DC pwr supply. put ur keys in the ignition but leave it with out turning it. plug in ur programmer and let it boot up. it will first download the stock program from ur truck to the programmer which takes a few minutes. once u have that backed up u can choose a tune from ur performance tunes. mine came with 4 tunes. 40hp, 60hp, 85hp, and 120hp. urs should be the same. choose one and then pretty much just follow the instructions dude. its very simple. as far as the online updates ive never updated mine but i know u can download tunes from online. mpg mileage u will have to do by hand. there IS a gain as long as u keep ur foot off it. i was getting like 1-4 miles more per gallon when i drive it normal. but i have a heavy foot so ya haha. but it does work and u WILL feet the power difference. just be careful cuz ive added lots of mods to my truck and the tranny is goin out. im gonna get a rebuild very soon but ya. if i were u id keep it on the 85 or 60 tune for the best results. 120 feels AWESOME but u should not try to use that too much without building ur tranny or getting a bigger exhaust. hope this helps. hit me up whenever

hey Motoxboy450f,
for what i've read and experienced limping the trans a few times doesnt mean it's going out, the stock allison is only rated for 370hp so after that the clutches begin to slip, so once you put the pedal anywhere near the floor youre putting out well over that and it's gonna happen. Right now im looking into the PPE stage 4 build that can handle 850+hp, heard a lot of good about it
