Most people do it for the re-assurance of lower egt's. That is the main benefit. 150-200 drop in EGT's. Also it produces a few extra hp but not that much. Most definitely worth it just for the peace of mind!
I just youtubed a video of one and man it does sound more like and Powerstroke. It doesn't screetch it just rumbles. Look it up type in duramax diamond eye and the title will read something about LBZ something another with only the one page of results.
The down-pipe makes a bigger difference than the manifold, but they will both help lower EGTs and improve overall efficiency. The down pipe will give a deeper tone to the exhaust.
ok , i won your diamond eye dp in the give away you did, we put it on my brothers truck i didnt want to void warranty on mine just yet but i didnt notice a difference in his but he has no gauges or a tuner its stock
I installed the BD manifold last year when I installed my Banks Techni-cooler. Had the fender well open so it made it a lot easier. Not as much stuff in the way. One thing that is nice is that it gives you a port for your EGT guage sensor. I coated my manifold to help decrease the under hood temps. It was about a 3 out of 5 install. Make sure you order new gaskets also. They don't come with it. Make sure to use anti seize also! I'm happy with the install and now I can monitor my EGT's. I had no idea the exhaust got that hot when you floored it!!!
