OK the new truck is here and we are ready to start the upgrades. Here is what we are starting with.

2011 GMC Denali LML (Onyx Black)

Here is a list of the first part of the build.

Lift- Cogntio 4-6 inch NTB with New Fox shocks
Tires - 35/12.5/22 Toyo MT's
Wheels - 22x9.5 Dale JR. (Powder coated black)
Amp power running boards
Gears - 4:10 G2

Much more to come as more performance upgrades hit the market.

i had to trim the flares with my steps, did it very discretely and doesn't look back, but steps still protrude out a bit and don't really tuck away like i originally thought

You would think the amp logic would think this stuff through to work with all the different aftermarket parts. It really sucks that you cant use the fender flares with the steps. My paint from the trim down is getting hammered. Im going to be putting rino liner or some equivilant product with UV protection . They garntee color match.

4:10 Gears

Project report. While 4:56's are my favorite choice for performance with a 6 speed we added 4:10's to our new LML for comparrison.

Its been a busy week but the G2 4:10 gears are in. These are the same ring and pinion as the previous generations. No changes were made. Minor instal kits are all that is needed. We found that while the front ring and pinion also remained the same the housings have changed. Side bearing adjustment locks can be difficult to remove and may need replacement. You will also need a 2 1/4" 12point socket or metric equivilent for adjusting carrier bearing preload. 6 metric bolts are needed to remove side bearing adjustment locks (6mm-1.0)

Here are some pics. We have not had a chance to report on MPG or performance gains. More info will be posted soon.

Big thanks to PPE for the sweet new diff covers.

Any issues with ABS lights or stabilitrak? Have you been able to program the CPU for the tires and gear? I want to do a gear swap to 4.56s but dont want to get a dash full of lights.
Thanks

#140 ·
No issues with stabilitrac or lights. We ran it with out the Hypertech tuner installed at first just to be sure. No problems just much better throttle response. We will be re installing tuner today for some additional testing.

Sweet Truck man!!:thumb

#144 ·
Ok so its my turn now. Do you think I should do the 4.10's or the 4.56's ? Let me know and when might be a good time for you guys to do it. Thanks.

#145 ·
I prefer 4:56 gears with a 6 speed and 35 inch tires this combo rips. It works awesome for performance and towing. Fuel economy will improve also.
PM sent to answer your other questions.:thumb

#146 ·
Thanks for the info. Could I get a quote on a 4.56 install also how long it would take for the install. I dont mind driving for quality work especially for someone who has experience with it:thumb already.
Thanks

How did you get the fender flars to work with the steps ? Also how did you get 37's to fit ?

#150 ·
Sorry, I was asking the guy with 37's but looked back and I answered my own question.
Hey, just about got the money together for you. Do you guys work on Saturday ? Im thinking of coming over and hanging out with my dad Friday-Sunday. Get back to work Monday. Is that possible ?

#151 ·
Also will my Bully dog programmer work with the gear change ? I also have a calibrator for the speedo and was told that that will work for the gear change. Please plan on what ever programming you need to do as well. Thanks

#153 ·
This truck is so much nicer in person, pictures don't do it justice.

#154 ·
hey dmaxstore, got a 12 inch lifted lml duramax, what gearing should i run, don't do any heavy pulling just daily driving. hs mini max installed and dpf complete delete, running 40 inch toyos right now....await your response, thanks

#156 ·
does it make a difference if i run 40s or 37s dont know much about gearing, what sort of difference would i see in the truck

#157 ·
ie mileage, performance, mostly city driving

#159 ·
DMAX have you guys swapped in a lower gear than 4.10s yet. Im still waiting to see someone do the swap, to make sure the CPU and antilock is cool with 4.56s
Thanks for info and the quote.

#160 ·
You already changed the ratio with your larger tires. Correcting it with gears will not have any adverse effect. If you go lower than stock you may get a ABS light. If so it is correctable with a simple tuner.
