You have to ask?

Yes that is a very general statement. What part of your truck would not be warrantied if you ad a tuner? Your statement would lead people to believe the entire truck would not have coverage.

You have to ask?
The warranty is only void if the tuner causes damage to a specific part. That part is not covered. The rest of your warranty is still good.

As soon as you plug it in and program the ECM with it the warranty is void, period.

I think what you meant was it doesn't add enough power to break things.
not true. its not like the truck sends a message to GM when you plug in a tuner. your warranty is void when a dealership reports it and blocks the warranty.

also not true. if they find that an aftermarket tuner caused a part in the powertrain to fail, your whole powertrain warranty would be gone not just warranty on a specific part.

Wrong

ok if im so wrong and you know everything about warranty tell me what would happen then. the engine doesnt have its own warranty by itself and neither does the transmission. if a tuner was found to be the cause of failure in a transmission they dont just go in and say only the transmission is out of warranty, they block the whole powertrain warranty. the engine, trans, tcase, and axles (and probably a few other things) are under the POWERTRAIN warranty.

I believe ur right. Just like if you lift your truck it voids the suspension and all included. With programers, it voids everything...engine trans and all powertrain.

It is up to the dealer on what to do. If a truck comes in with major driveability issues they will look to see if a tuner was used. It is very difficult to hurt the drivetrain of a Duramax, we are all aware of that. These tuners are drivetrain friendly because they do not ad excessive power. If you are worried about voiding your warranty then you should leave your truck completely stock:rolleyes:

Thanks. Ya dealers are on the hunt for any non OEM changes.

I heard that they have special ring gear and you just can't swap it out. If I'm wrong that would be great

I never said I know everything about warranty. Don't try to put words in my mouth. Apparently you know more about warranty than the person at GM customer service that explained it to me. So you must be the one that is right, not GM.

Now that that is over let's get back to DMAXSTORE'S sweet LML Denali. I really like that truck. It kicks my LML's a$$

its ok to be wrong. at least you admitted it.

I will dig into this very soon, we are swapping gears in a week or two. I have recent info that the pinion bearing size switched in mid 2011.

MPG trip report

Took a road trip today. Jason and I drove the new Denali from Sacramento CA up HWY 50 through lake Tahoe and down into Reno NV. We then followed the route back to Sac. This trip starts around 800 feet in elevation and climbs over the summit about 7200 feet. We are running level 3 on the tuner and driving it like we were running late (not easy).

By the end of the trip the LML knocked down a pretty impessive 16.5 mpg with the 35" Toyo's on a mountain highway. The truck only has 2500 miles on it now so I know it will improve as the motor breaks in. We will be installing 4:10 gears in a couple of weeks. This should help pick up some additional fuel econ and throttle response.

So does it hit. ?? Are those 37" tires? Sorry if you put that in the thread but my phone sucks.
