Well I'm in Utah(ard) and I guess its illegal to take off the DPF, I was looking to put on a DPF delete MBRP system but was waiting to see what kinda of programmer I needed to keep from showing codes. I currently have the edge evolution and I get 13.5 MPG city with that and a AFE replacement air filter. Once I leave this state is it normal from state to state to have this issue?

Also will the DPF delete stop the regeneration system? If I get the right programmer?

Once you remove the DPF the truck will no longer regen. The tuner is needed to clear the codes and keep them from returning.

The DPF is a federal piece of emission equipment, so it is illegal to remove. I recommend if you remove it you store it in your garage for when you have to go in for emission testing in the future.

If I can help with any questions let me know.

It's a federal thing, not a state thing. Technically any highway truck built with a DPF is required to keep it.

I just made another post on DPF but I thought I would throw this in here on this thread, anybody thought about gutting out a DPF? Hot Rod guys do it all the time to Catalytic Converters. Could you gut it and run your program. If your in an area like mine they check for the equipment but dont smog test the truck. It will look totally stock and there is no way to tell.

Its illegal in every state but like the other post say i would just keep your factory exhaust so when you go to get it inspected you can put it back on. Yeah gutting it would be the easiest because you dont have to keep taking it on and off but the factory exhausts are really restrictive imo and yes get a tuner that deletes the DPF. I think every brand of tuner has a tuner that will do this.

I find it strange that older diesels didnt have the DPF's and newer ones now do. With that said how would someone know besides a dealer know what vehicle is and isnt supposed to have the DPF? Also, what could happen (legal) if you were caught with it off of a vehicle with a DPF from the factory?

They made it pretty easy. If it is a New body style it should have one. The started putting them on the 07.5s with the LMM motor. Personally if you use your truck for off road then it is ok to remove it. I figure my truck is an offroad vehicle. Since it is the tires that are actually on the road.....LOL

HAHA, tell that to the authorities and see if it works. Yeah I knew they started on the new body LMMs just seems strange how you can penalize those of us with the LMM's yet before that they never were on a truck or required.

I really do not have to worry about it here in southern NM. I think all that is required here is lights and a windsheild.:rof

Lights, windshield, driver's liscense (optional)

I think it is more like; one headlight or a fog lamp, windshield no matter how many cracks it has, driver's license (used in replacement of a green card, because we will issue them to anyone here in NM).

I would not gut the DPF. If you ever really need it you would then have to pay to replace it.
you will never "need" it once you program the truck the warranty is void...unless you mean for emissions testing in CA or something.

i have never heard what the fine is for getting caught without it but i bet its pretty steep...along the lines of running red fuel i bet.
