Has anyone heard if GM is really planning on charging $7000 more for the new diesel trucks they will be coming out with? You know how expensive new 2500 and 3500's are now and if they add another 7G's.....WOW!

I doubt it will be that much more, then they would be more expensive than fords, but I would expect a substantial price increase.

As Brian mentioned, they have a new, better and badder frame.

In addition they also have the SCR. SCR systems are complex, yet simple. The components of them are expensive but not $7,000 expensive.

you sure your not just talking the "option" charge for the Duramax? Same as the years before....the duramax is always about a ~7K option over the gasser.

probably because he wanted to sell you a 2009/2010.

The truth is NO ONE KNOWS WHAT THE PRICE INCREASE WILL BE.

Honestly, I really dont think it will be that much more expensive. My own guess, is an additional $1,000-1,500 at the absolute most.

Time will tell to see who is correct in their price guess. ;)

Expect a "substantial" price increase. All of the dealers are saying it and so are the bean counters that I know at corporate. No one is saying how much yet but rumors are all over the map. GM internally is trying to figure out how to recoup the expensive development costs associated with the ever tightening emissions laws without pricing themselves out of the market. They are toying with the idea of going with the non-US model of limited packages. At least that is what I've heard.

Yep as I was looking around a salesman told me that they would be going up on the Duramax 5k more for the 2011 models. Thats why he told me that they couldnt keep none on the lot!!

Telling customers that its going to be a huge price increase is a great way to move some trucks fast.

Ive said it before, SCR is not that expensive of a system. If GM thinks its worth more than the entire Duramax/Allison upgrade was back when it came out, then they are going to be out of the Diesel market very quickly.

Let's see, Ho' B'ama just dumped umpteen trillion dollars of counterfeit "money" into the "economy", do you think this will require more or less dollars to buy next year's truck, disregarding all the government mandated "improvements" to prevent global warming? I think I know the answer.....

Doesn't matter if they lower the trucks by $7K....My 05 is paid for, and I have no intention to get into any more payments. What would I get with a new truck? Urea injection, DPF filter and half the fuel economy and performance....

I have read about the upgrades that GM is planning on for the new HD trucks and I think $7000 more for these trucks is a bunch of crap and you are right DurallyMax, I think it will also put them out of the diesel biz!

Also remember the dollar is weakening so you have to make it up somewhere, and our luxury is where they (Gov't) will strike.
