So my CTS2 took a crap. It works fine, but you cannot change any of the PID's. The screen "beep's" when you touch it, and that's all you get. So I called Edge and they said since Holley bought them out, they no longer service or support ANY of the older displays. I told them that's not my problem, they need to warranty it. They said no way.... After a few conversations going up the food chain, I found a guy sympathetic to my situation, and they gave me a 50% discount on a CTS3.

Holy crap.... is it a step up!! The display is iPhone quality and it does more, and displays more.

It's really nice......

I have one to tune my 1500 and get rid of the cylinder deactivation. I have a CTS2 on my Duramax that changes the tunes. It is much nicer. But it costs $140 for a video adapter for my trailer backup camera where the CTS2 it just plugs in. Other than that it is very nice. I just ordered another $500 worth of EAS stuff. A couple of switch setups so I can bypass the BCM locking out certain lights at times I don't want it to. An ambient temp sensor since the factory one on the T1s sucks. They use 2 sensors and are not always accurate. That takes another adapter. Their stuff gets expensive fast. But it will do a lot of things and they have figured out how to unlock the ECM and TCM.

Yes it does if you get the right one. It has canned tunes in it. They can be adjusted a little as well. The main reason I bought it is to kill the cylinder deactivation on my 1500 6.2 gasser. The unlock process uses a thing they call locksmith. On a gas motor you do the ECM and TCM separately with different harnesses. The diesel may be different. You can find all you need to know on their website.

No longer service and support the older units, do you mean the 2s will not update any more or anything? That’s a bummer if so, because I have two cts2’s and a friend has one that sounds about like what yours was doing….

I ran into that last year on the one in the LB7. I was able to get it to recover and update, but that was about a year ago now. I think anyway, maybe it was two years ago….. 🤔

I am going to try that today with the one in my Duramax today Russ. I will let you know. They still show how to upgrade to EAS stuff on their website for CTS2.
As for the CTS3 I got my EAS stuff yesterday. I got an ambient temp sensor. The factory one in the T1 truck has always read high. The new trucks have 2 sensors one in the right mirror. When I changed the mirrors it got worse. They sent me a new sensor for the mirror but no Bueno. The tow mirrors factory or aftermarket have the sensor in a stupid place. I connected my scan tool to it. In the garage after sitting overnight and the sensors were 4 degrees different. And 5 and 9 degrees above room temp. GM fucked that up bad. So I want something more accurate for winter towing and driving.
I also got 2 switch sets. Each dose 2 things. I have the old tank from the Duramax which can be put in the bed of the 1500. I installed a gas truck pump and fuel sender in it. I would stop and transfer fuel to the main tank. But it's a pain in the ass. Got to do it while stopped. So I plan to put a T in the vent line to the fuel filler to connect it to. I will then run a hose to the bed. With a fuel check valve so the tank pressure won't be messed up causing a check engine light. I will use marine connectors to connect the tank. And use one of the switch relays to run the fuel pump in the secondary tank. The other 3 are going to bypass the body control module so I can turn on the mirror spotlights and cargo lights in drive. And turn on the fog lights with the high beams.
The ambient temp sensor requires a universal gauge adapter to connect to the CTS3. Those do 2 things also. The other thing will be the fuel gauge in the secondary tank. It's a pretty cool set up on the CTS3. The mystyle software allows you too set up the sender with either 5 volt or resistance. You set the range as well. It shows the fuel level on the stock tank in percentage. I will do the same for the secondary tank. You can put some PIDs right above the switches on the screen. So I will be able to move fuel down to the main tank and see what's in each tank without stopping. I have a 12 gallon marine tank I put in the bed of the Duramax that has a switch to pump it into the main 45 gallon tank for more range. The only bad part is the only way to know it's empty is the gauge stops rising. So since the tank in the bed from the Duramax is larger than the tank on the 1500 it will be nice to have gauges on both tanks. But more range means being able to get better fuel prices. The Duramax holds 57 gallons with both tanks. The 1500 holds 45 with both tanks.

I am updating my old CTS2 right now. It still works.

I've had my CTS2 in my LB7 since 2011 and never saw a need to update it. It works great!

I had to update my CTS2 back in February, the operating system became corrupted and it would boot up showing a "snowy" picture on the screen. I hooked it up to my laptop with the USB cable, ran the edge utility and reloaded the firmware. Has worked fine since.

The trans tunes are set up for the tune you choose. It Locks the converter so it doesn’t slip like with a banks tuner. I am very impressed with my cts3 on my 2021 gmc sierra. It was a real pain in the ass getting the pcm and tcm unlocked and my truck is push button start so that added to the headache of tuning but 2.5 months after I ordered it my truck is a monster compared to what it was. The trans tunes are everything!

Interesting enough my CTS2 screen was misaligned and getting the feature you wanted to use was difficult to press. I did an update via the USB mini cable and I guess it recalibrated everything so now it works as good as a second hand CTS2 could. I don't know how recent the update that I downloaded was, but it resolved the most PITA issue that I was having.

I ordered a CTS3 and when it came I installed it. I saw you could update it through WiFi and tried doing that. Apparently you should not do that with the motor running; it broke it. I called and told them about it and they sent me a new one. Works great. I have never understood why GM does not let you know when the truck is in regen and the DEF gauge never seems to give the correct reading. I saw the truck go through a regen last night and now I have a better understanding how the process works and how it affects other systems. I’m loving the CTS3 and would recommend everyone should have one.
