Have you updated the edge yet? They're constantly publishing updates for the edge products, and sometimes that will fix the issues you're experiencing. fwiw, my cts3 acted like that all the time when I first got it, had to unplug the obdii cable while driving to get it to restart properly. Several updates later, its now working decent with no lockups.
I'm assuming that's the evo cts3 with wifi, I would suggest doing a manual update via a pc with a usb cable instead of over wifi.
