If it was me I would just buy everything in case something happens you move, the company goes out of business or anything like that. Thats just me though.
X2 ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
yes i would get the V2 also.. they way you have the ability to log and read/clear DTC
...guy in my area does efi live ...
Unless you know what he is doing, bail. I totally endorse finished ECM tuning, especially if you have no ambition to learn how to use the software, but you have to choose very carefully.

^^^^ What he said.

There are a ton of great tuners on this forum that have their own tuning library and have amazing reputations. Do some research before you jump right in to someone that says they do EFILive tuning for you Duramax. This is a high dollar truck and motor we are talking about here. :drink
x2 what Jeff said!

I would buy everything. I didnt and I wish I did. Now I have to buy the program and V2 even tho Im already tuned.

There are some awesome tuners on here that anyone can attest to.
I was going to go with efi live but i desided to go with the edge instead
i purchased an efi programmer from nick @ duramax tuner with five tunes & dsp5 switch for a little over a g. excellent decesion cause now i am tuning a buddies duramax(dpf off) and two 5.3. Nick is excellent to deal with
I am in the same boat, my switch and tunes are by a well know tuner that I am getting soon, but what happens if he leaves the area or my truck has to be placed back to stock.............. then what............ don't know maybe I should go with the edge race cts
get the efi live u will not regret it. so much more to do with it
I would do a LOT of research about the tuner, how long they've been tuning, get feedback from people they've done tunes for, etc..

There are a few people with really good reputations on this forum that I would go to before a "local" guy. They can sell you a programed ECM w/DSP5 switch, that way if you ever had to or wanted to go back to stock, you'd have your stock ECM even if they went out of business.

Also having EFI Live v2 offers you some ability to troubleshoot your truck or data log it to send to someone for troubleshooting. There are also a few guys on here that can review / process the data for you.
so how much more for the hand held unit that goes along with the efi live cause right now I am just getting the switch and 5 tunes
Ok I just read this thread and I'm totally confused now. I'm new to all this and have been trying to read on the EFI live. I know everyone recommends it for the duramax. I'm not ready to purchase yet but trying to get educated on it for when the day comes. What all do you have to purchase to have it?
switch, and the tunes.......... can get the entire package too if you want to do the tuning yourself...... would need all that if you need to trouble shoot and clear codes

i went with nick. duramaxtuner.com. bought the package. tuner itself along w/the dsp5 switch and 5 of nicks tunes. After i got everything in the mail i called nick and he talked me threw how to pull/log my info he needed to build my tunes. couple days later i got an e-mail fromm him with the tunes and downloaded them on my truck. It's alot simpler than a guy thinks.
