Hello there
I have a 21 Yukon XL and I had the check engine light on last week, I took it to the dealership (100,236 miles on it) stayed for 2 days they say that Engine coolant valve controller GM Part Number 24001355 needs to he replaced but it is a back order and it could be 8 weeks, I took the cat back from them and had to reset it, worked good for few hours but then the check engine lit up again, the car runs okay but sometimes the fans go max speed, and I get a warning (Reduced Acceleration Drive with Care)
Any experience how to fix this issue or how to get the part?
Thank you.

I tried cleaning the connections and reseting the CEL with no luck (68,000 mi). Wish I could help. Mine has been out for 6 weeks. I have called multiple dealerships and stopped by 3 yesterday along the 55 corridor and they all same the same thing. If they have one they are for customers and are not willing to sell it to walk up customers.

Hello. It’s been a few months for you guys so hopefully you are up and running. I have this same issue on my ‘22 LT Trailboss. 3.0. The CEL came on and my engine fan is running on high. Dealership has no idea when the part will come in and no loaner. They said it’s fine to drive even though I have the Reduced Speed message on my cluster. They refuse to put it in writing that I’m good to drive it. I only have 18,900 miles on the truck.

Hey guys. My name is Dave. Had the same issue. 21 Silverado 3.0 with p1098. They got a valve in. And replaced it. It was on back order. So I took my truck to daily until the part came in. Said the job would take 10-12 hrs to do. Don’t understand why. While putting everything back together they found a cracked hose. Said that they wanted to fix it before giving it back. Otherwise it would be another 10-12 hrs to get back in to fix the hose if it goes out. Was out my truck 4 days. But I wanna know how to fix it myself. Because they put the same part number part back on it. And it’s a known issue. No updated part as of now.

Yukon has been in the shop since beginning of May- was told 2 weeks ago that it was set to have this part arrive at the dealer in Canada end of June. Just got an update today that there is 4000 control valves set to hit the US warehouse. Time frame..... 12 weeks. My vehicle is number 237. He said realistically I wont see my vehicle for another 16 weeks

I have a 2022 GMC At4 with the same issue. I was advised not to drive it and part #24001355, wont be available until 7/22/24. The strange thing is when I called their parts department to ask when this part would be available they said no ETA. Pretty frustrating situation. As other's have expressed, it's a large monthly payment to not be able to use your truck.

Same reported condition here with a 2022 Suburban 3.0 RST with 34k miles. Dealership updated the ECU and error code and condition came back after a week and hardly many miles driving. Waiting for dealership to call me back. Does this group believe it's safe to drive until the part comes in? What is the worst that will happen? How much pushing did you have to do with the service department to do the right thing and replace it? Asking in advance of this upcoming appointment.

The dealer told me it’s advised not to drive my truck. If you chose to take your vehicle and drive it, it closes the ticket and they will not be responsible for additional damage that may be caused. It’s a risky situation and I don’t think they know enough about the potential long term damage. I spoke to a helpful parts guys at the Chevy GMC dealer in Carson and he said there are 12 different part numbers for this particular part. Meaning, they have been re-engineering this part again and again so it doesn’t need to be fixed again and it appears this is part of the delay in production.

Chris thanks for the quick reply. My service advisor called back a few hours after dropping off to tell me the part is on back order, however he advised it is safe to drive. I’m not surprised to see different guidance from the dealership on whether it’s safe to drive. By chance can you share the most recent part number if you know so I can compare to what my adviser is ordering.

Ok. trying to find info on this p1098. I have a GMC 21 45k miles with the P1098 error. I think it threw a p2B86 error as well. Anyhow.. they said the verified that the coolant control valve was operating as it should. Checked for wringing harness chaffing but found none at this time. Reset the code and see if it happens again.. They also said it could be a wire harness issue still but that is NOT covered by warranty. Cost of excess of $6k. I will contest that with GM if it reaches that point. They did order the control valve but its no where to be found. I also had the turbo replaced twice, ECM for the no crank issue.. so the wiring has been moved around many, many times. If that is the cause. Not sure how they test the valve... going back tomorrow for more testing. Again trying to find info on what others have seen. thanks

I have a 2020 Siverado and my appointment came up for a "coolant exhaust fitting" replacement. June I had an incident with CEL + ENGINE POWER reduced message accompanied by rapid rise in engine Temp to 240 and a loud fan noise. I pulled over let it cool down. And the system reset itself. I took it in to dealer I bought it from and they said code indicated this cooling exhaust fitting. They ordered it and said it would take a while to get part. I drove for 2 months without incident until I was in WV on a trip. After driving 3 hours, I stopped to fill up and 5 mins after I left the pump, the Gremilin returned just like before. Unlike first time it was not a hot day. It was cool day but I was going up a hill. I pulled over and let engine cool for 20 mins with hood up. Fortunately I was 15 minutes from my Hotel and it would be all downhill. Although the CEL remained on the message was gone and the engine temp was normal. The next day CEL extingushed. Drove all up hill to Cooper Rock no problem and 6 hours home no problem. Fortunately I had appointment to put the part in after my return. I hope it solves problem. It is being fixed under warranty. Other than screwy DEF indications, at 60000 miles, this the only real problem I have had with my 3L diesel.
