Has anyone had excessive engine noise after a cold start , for the first few miles or so ?
This morning ( and once before ) my truck was making alot more noise than usual.
This is not my first diesel , and I am aware that a diesel will be loader when the engine is cold , but Im worried that this noise is excessive , and Im wondering if there could be a problem ?
After warm up , the engine noise is normal . Its only after not running overnite that I have had this problem. ( temps down to the freezing level overnite )
Any ideas ? or is this normal.
thanks for any info.

Mine does that when it's cold. It seems to clatter more. I think it just takes it awhile to get the oil warmed up and the internal components heated up. As long as it doesn't keep doing it when it's at normal temps I wouldn't worry about it.

The stock tuning adds timing while at cold engine temps and cold intake air temps so there is enough time for the fuel to burn. So i say its normal!
