With straight or miter cuts, you do have the potential of having soot blown up and landing on the truck when starting, particularly after a good rain. Also, under throttle, some small smudges of soot can catch the bed of the truck. I have 5" miters on my 2006 Dodge. I have not found it to be a big enough issue to bother me. I love the look and the sound and would take twice the problems with stacks before considering going back to a typical under body exhaust.
