Hi Guys,
I just took delivery on my 07 GMC 2500HD SLT. (new body style) I love everything about it so far but I was wondering one thing... Is there some way I can change the "tip" on the exhaust without getting $1000 into it? I really don't like that the end flares out in the last 10", sorta looks like a galv. stove pipe to me. I see that about the last 16" or so are attached by exh. springs, any idea if there is an alternative tip I can just snap on there by popping those springs off? Like a 4inch chrome tip or something... ideas? Or, I also am under the impression that some of the exhaust kits out there can make a pretty big difference in fuel mileage and perf., I'd be interested in knowing what kits are out there that people have on this new body style and what the gains seem to be. I'm new to the site, hope to chat w/ ya'll about these trucks in the future.

This tip is part of the new disel particulat filter (DPF) on the LMM engine, the tip actually cools the exhaust after it exits the DPF as it can be in excess of 1000 deg's when its in regeneration mode! Just wait a little while im sure some company will find a way to by-pass the DPF and then you can loose the ugly tip, but as for now its still to new and there is nothing on the market!!

Congrats on the new Truck!

Ditto, 05_LLY, specks from my dealer were 1400+ degrees at the DPR and 500+ at the exhaust pipe. Not only the size and bracket are diferrent, you'll note that the exhaust direction is pointed toward the corner of the truck rather than the traditional side. That's so some fool doesn't let it idle in the garage during regen. mode and burn the garage down, or the adjacent vehicle. I was also told, "try to avoid the regen. cycle in idle or slow traffic".
