I've been reading about the benefits of adding an external oil cooler. But I've only seen 2 kits that cost close to 1k. I've also read that people run into oil pressure problems if you add a sandwich plate to plumb your cooler. Can anyone confirm that, and what are people doing to add a cooler?

Problem to overcome; -12an lines to match the flow volume of the Dmax. Sandwich adapter (earl's) is only -10an. However, you can port the I.D. on the adapter to match -12an, then add bushings to bump up to -12an lines to/fro the cooler out front..

The thin wall at that point doesn't matter, as you're running low (under 100) psi, getting the volume flow needed.

Parts priced out for your DIY kit; the big expense beyond the cooler (trans cooler coil) and sandwich, is all of the Alum fittings for the hoses. Those are priced like they're gold plated.
Parts total (last I checked) was 'round $750.

There are those who say -10an is just fine. However, if you look at the specs on both, -10an comes up short on max volume flow, whereas -12an max is just above the Dmax flows. So you're covered.

which part number did you use for the sandwich adapter, mocal wants $150..
it has to be a 4" oil filter landing to work with 13/16-16 thread adapter ..
Can you help with this for my 07 chevy LBZ with some part numbers names cost etc...?
Thank you in advance

I'm at about $375 collecting parts so far. Possibly the answer to your question those who had pressure problems go with big lines AN10 -AN12. Some may wanted to save money smaller hoses & fittings are 1/2 the cost. As far as pressure most duramaxs online people complain they don't have much to start with. Mine is 35-37 psi @ 2000rpm 26-28 1000-1200rpm. 90% is these oil sandwiches have a thermostat at 180-200 degrees so theroureticly you couldn't cool the oil down below 200 no matter the cooler or fan size also a defective thermostat not opening till much hotter causes loss of pressure
I got a non-thermostated 1322 trans-dapt. They do have a bypass in case of filter plugs up or cooler plugs up. I'm regulating the temp with the fan via thermoswitch
