I have an 04 lb7, fan clutch engages whenever the AC is running. Coolant temp is pretty normal, about 180-190. Iv never heard the fan engage when the AC is off. Doesn't matter what the outside temp is. 70-80-90 always turns it. It's killing my mpg. Please help.

The only thing that I could think that would cause that would be high condenser temps because of excessive high side pressure. I find it hard to believe that there would be that much extra heat coming through that stack from something like that to severely affect the cooling fan clutch operation but that’s all I’ve got. Put some gauges on the a/c system and go from there.

Iv never watched the guages while it was running, but. I have re charged it a few times (with a machine at work) I thought maybe it was to high so I put in 1.6 lbs instead of 1.8 and it didn't seem to make a difference. When it's cold outside and I run the AC the lines get covered in ice. Not sure if that's related.
