Flashing Trailer Lights when parked

So I have noticed that the last couple of trailers I have pulled, when the vehicle is parked and trailer still hooked up, the brake lights flash. This happens about every 30-60 seconds. I thought at first, it was just the trailer, as I didn't own that one. Then this weekend, borrowed another to move furniture, and had the same situation. Anyone know if this is something new on the system? Something to be concerned about?

Thanks,
Bill

part of the new trucks probably in the OM and it has been discussed here before

The service advisor at my dealer said it was part of the 'theft detection system' - I think the control module 'pings' the electrical circuit for the tail lamps on the trailer on some set schedule. If the circuit goes open, it sets off the horn. Trailer theft averted!

So, if this is the case, whenever we don't have a trailer hooked up, the horn should blow constantly. While this seems like a good idea, there would have to have a sensor on the hitch or the suspension system to show the load on the truck missing.

I looked through the Owners manual and couldn't find anything. I wonder if it is because I didn't go through the light check in the system, therefore it is trying to process through that mode.
i'll try that on the next trailer I pull.

Thanks,
Bill

The trailer profile settings do allow you to turn the feature on/off. I have mine off, but the lights still blink occasionally. Its more noticeable it seems with LEDs, like the voltage pulse is pretty small.

That seems odd if its for theft, because I noticed it blinking occasionally and had no idea why, so I just unplugged it because I was worried about it running down my batteries, but it never honked or anything. Maybe because the vehicle was unlocked? Not sure.

I enabled the theft feature, then forgot about it, and unplugged the trailer while parked one night. It definitely works. Alarm/horn on truck started immediately. I had unplugged the trailer b/c the trailer lights were blinking... I was slightly worried about the battery, but it's probably so little voltage that it shouldn't be an issue unless it sits for an extended period of time.
