I have heard of guys just scuffing up the chrome with a scotch brite pad and going to town with a rattle can and not having any problems but i'm sure some others will chime in.
Also, WELCOME TO THE FORUM!!!!:welcome
ya i have heard some people doing that, just dont want to have to worry about it chipping off... They make a few "bumper covers" but i dont want anything crazy. Want to keep the stock look as much as possible. Thanks for the Welcome!
I have considered either powder coating or doing Linex on my bumpers to paint match. You can get this teflon protective stuff on the Linex that will keep it from fading and chipping, plus it really smooths the look up and it looks pretty much factory. Those are some ideas to think about.

I have the plastics on my OBS truck painted. I thought about painting the chrome but Im worried about it flaking. To do it right id get paintable caps then get the bumper sand blasted to get the chrome off or scuff it down and use some self etching primer then spraying it to match the truck

Powder coating would be ideal but the "chrome" bumper shrouds are plastic. If you have a dark colored truck, you could always spray it with Plastidip. The rubberized paint holds up extremely well to the abuse your front end takes on the highway and would look much better black then chrome.
Im on the fence here... anyone heard of street scene "SS style" front bumper cover .. im working on blacking out my truck..
i had a nbs 07 1500 chevy and i had the chrome center piece of the bumper and the black plastic lower section of the bumper both color matched red. they made the truck look 100% better and held up fairly well. They were scuffed down and painted with special primer to help adhear the paint. i dont think it would be possible to powercoat the plastic because it involves baking the coating on. just my 2cents. good luck

That would look killer! Will SS bumper work on a 2500? I think the bumpers are differnet than a 1500. Which IIRC thats what thre designed for.

I'm interested in what tow master's question is too..
I got a quote from a local body shop for painted bumpers front and rear for 600.00 does that seem reasonable.
