It was difficult for me to take it off and reinstall through the top. I ended up getting frustrated and removing the fender well cover.

Wow for all you guys having trouble, GET SOME NEW TOOLS! I did mine in like 4 minutes or so taking my sweet time through the top. Use a strap wrench you can hook an extension and ratchet to, easy as pie.

I have found the easiest way for me to do mine is to remove the battery... it takes like 2 min to pull it out. Then you can get to the filter super easyand have alot more room.

For what it's worth... we sell some accessories that making changing it a snap. We have a fuel filter door that installs in your inner fender liner so you don't have to take the whole thing out to change it, just pull the push-in connectors out, take the door out, and the filter is right in front of you. And we also have a WIF sensor wrench so you don't have to bugger it up with channel locks. They're each under $20, and cut the filter changing time down to almost nothing. Definitley a couple must have's if you plan on keeping the truck for a long long time :)

I always pull my inner fender....takes a hole minute to take it out. It's not worth the frustration trying to change it from the top...

Here's a pic of it. I don't feel that its necessary to install all 8 or so push pins for a 10 oz. piece of plastic, but it comes with them if you want em.

I have fender flares so I have to pull the screws for them, then pull the fender. :Smack

plus not all of us live in sunny warm Huston... I live on a muddy ass gravel road thats more like a muddy two rut trail right now lol, so my inner fenders are always CAKED with mud :fan. Wish I could do it from the top just to stay clean lol

There's too much sh!t in the way on the LMM's to get to it from the top. It's pretty close to impossible...
