I recently bought an 02 lb7 duramax and the number one priority on my list is to get EFI live.

I'm getting ready to buy EFI Live and I was wanting to know if anyone runs pillar mount gauges or if everyone is going with the Edge.

I personally like the look of the pillar gauges but I like the ability to see different readings with the touch of a screen. So I am torn and don't know which one to go with.

If you use the gauges I would like to know what brand you went with and what parameters I need to have a gauge on.

Thanks in advance for all your help.

Gauges are pretty straightforward, EGTs and boost. I ran for years in my truck with just a pillar setup, and still have pillar gauges in both trucks. But, I also like the CTS and have one of those in my 02 as well as the gauges. There are a lot more things that can be monitored by the CTS, so If you're into that kind of thing, choose the CTS. If you're a bare-bones basics kinda guy, go with pillar gauges

CTS all the way, you can do so much with it including control your EFI on your truck. If you really want to you could get a two or three pod pillar and get a pod adapter for the CTS and then add an analog gauge or two.

I have my mechanical boost gauge since the LB7s only read to 22lbs and then my CTS right below it in a double pillar pod.

This is what i'm pondering to do if I can find some extra money.

I have pillar mounted Autometers and LOVE them. I'm more into the old school look myself. Recently thought about switching to CTS, but talked myself out of it.

Why not both? I have my CTS in a 2 pod pillar with a boost gauge on top for when I upgrade turbos

Personally I prefer my gauge pod over an edge cts, around here it seems like everyone and their dog has a cts so a gauge pod sorta sticks out

I like having the analog gauges and the CTS. The CTS is great to have and can control EFI live as previously stated. There is a ton of function in it. Im glad I have one but they dont read true boost so you will need a boost gauge at least
Here is my setup. Top gauge monitors the lift pump, Middle is boost.

They read true boost, just on the lb7 and lly trucks the MAP only reads to 22-23psi, that's why people think it doesn't read true. It will read right on with a analog gauge tell you spike what the computer is scaled for.

Both. I have a double pillar with boost and Pyro then a CTS in a dash pod. Love this setup because CTS doesn't read full boost on 01-05 and Edge had alot of issues with the EAS pyrometer probes going south.
